Dear Dr. , I'm pleased to share several membership updates about what’s new and what’s ahead.
New resident and candidate membership
The Board of Regents has approved a new membership category for current veterinary surgery residents and candidates that will launch in January 2027.
This optional membership will give residents and candidates meaningful ways to engage with the College earlier in their careers, including access to educational resources, networking and mentorship opportunities, and other member benefits.
The College will have terminology policies in place to avoid confusion of resident and candidate membership status with ACVS board-certified Diplomate status.
Introducing the Mentorship Network
The Mentorship Network is now available in ACVS Connect. This new ACVS Connect community provides a dedicated space for mentors and mentees to build meaningful connections.
Network participants can explore mentorship opportunities aligned with their interests and goals, connect with colleagues across career stages, and engage in conversations that support learning and professional development.
If you are looking for a mentor or interested in mentoring others, join the Mentorship Network and introduce yourself.
2027 certification fee and membership dues
As part of the College's separation of certification functions and membership activities, ACVS has separated the current single annual dues amount into two components: an annual certification fee and annual membership dues. The combined total of the certification fee and membership dues is in line with what Diplomates have paid in recent years.
The Annual Certification Fee for 2027 is $490 and supports all certification-related functions. Like the dues payment policy in previous years, paying the certification fee is required to maintain your ACVS Diplomate status. Annual Membership Dues are $125 and support your member benefits and services. Membership dues are not required to maintain your ACVS Diplomate status but are necessary to continue receiving member benefits. The combined total of $615 represents a 3.5 percent increase over 2026 membership dues. Your 2027 certification fee and membership dues invoice will be available in early October.
Thank you for being part of the ACVS community and for continuing to engage with your College and colleagues.
Sincerely,
Adam Seery, CAE
Membership Director
