THE COUNCIL CONNECT

January 2025

It's a new newsletter for a new year! Welcome to The Council Connect, a fresh update to the way you get your news from the Maryland State Arts Council. You’ll still hear what's happening with us every month, but the format has been enhanced to help you stay better connected with our funding opportunities and other resources.

Every edition of The Council Connect will highlight a list of current grant application openings, including easy access for learning more on msac.org. We're also excited about a new section called In the Field, which will showcase our visits to constituents across Maryland. Plus, the greeting note you're reading now will be written by a different staff member each month. We hope you'll enjoy hearing from all of us!

January is just the start! We can't wait to share more with you as the year unfolds. As always, feel free to let us know how we're doing using the feedback emojis at the bottom of this email.

All the best,

Alysha Suryah

Connections, catch-ups, and councilors on site in St. Mary's County

Staff, councilors, and grantees gathered at St. Mary’s College of Maryland in December for a full council meeting focusing on upcoming initiatives, recent achievements, and how best to deepen our commitment to advancing the arts for all Marylanders. It was wonderful being surrounded by the vibrant history and culture of Southern Maryland as we did our work. Special thanks to our hosts at the Southern Maryland Folklife Center, as well as Susie Glauner, Executive Director of St. Mary's County Arts Council, who was kind enough to share this photo!
