I nternational Co-op Study Tour - Italy

Congratulations Venkat Kondam!
Venice Reflections
Venktat, CME second-year Masters student, was selected as a winner of the Saint Mary's University Study Abroad Photo Contest.
Venkat captured this beautiful photo while participating in our study tour to Emilia-Romagna, Italy in Fall 2018. Each year, Co-operative Management Education organizes a 10-day study tour of Italy or Spain to experience the first-hand benefits of a successful co-operative economy.
"My favourite picture of Venice waterways. I took this shot in late afternoon, still water, traditional houses, there is nothing touristy here. You can even see cloth string, boats that are for regular use, no gondolas or tourists. The arched bridge nicely reflects. To me this is reflections of Venice life ."

Me'Lea Connelly is
Making Waves
"I think our project has given people something to opt into that's hopeful and that has a real, tangible outcome connected to it"
We are delighted to see our 2nd year Co-operative Management Education Masters student,  Me'Lea Connelly, featured in YES! Magazine.

Connelly is recognized for her leadership in conceiving the Village Financial Cooperative, a Black -owned credit union in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She believes this institution will play an important role in pushing back against historical and ongoing wealth extraction from Black communities. Through "non extractive" or "regenerative finance", this co-operative aims to channel capital into communities of colour and support local efforts to gain democratic control over their community economics.

We commend Connelly for her commitment to racial and economic justice and co-operative economics for a better world.
