Congratulations!

Congratulations to Bachman’s Cedar Acres on 20 years in Lakeville (and 140 years in business)! The Cedar Acres location is open for business and you can grab potted plants, annual and perennials, outdoor décor, and just about anything you need to get your lawn and garden ready for the season. Just head south on Cedar and they are on the left.

Welcome to Lakeville, Tareen Dermatology! Lakeville is the 8th location for Tareen and they are offering medical services and select cosmetic treatments. Thank you to Dr. Mohiba Tareen for bringing her (over 10 years of) “Top Doctor” recognition to our community. It's skin check season!

May is Hire a Veteran month

Some resources for hiring Vets:

DEED Commissioner Meeting

Mark Jacobs, Workforce Development Director for Dakota County, organizes a regular meeting with the Chamber Presidents in Dakota and Scott Counties and gives us the opportunity to interact with various speakers and leaders in the state. Last week we had the opportunity to meet with new DEED Commissioner, Mark Varilek, and discuss some of these programs being implemented – Sick and Safe Time and Paid Family Leave – and how it is and will impact our employers and their teams.

Please continue to share your feedback with me on these programs and I will continue to share it with our leaders.

May Edition

Ok, maybe not a REAL smoothie restaurant...

Last week, some members of the Lakeville Chamber crossed the border into Apple Valley to participate in teacher Luke Gootee’s (Valley Middle) annual Shark Tank project. Mike Fuller, Raising Cane’s, and I "bought" into a smoothie truck with these fine 8th graders! Mr. Gootee runs it just like the show and we got to sample food, smell candles, see clothing, and so much more. In two weeks, some of us will be doing our annual Food Truck Wars judging gig at LNHS – where students designs trucks, plan menus and present us with their creations to taste. There are several opportunities throughout the year to interact with our next generation of leaders. If this is something that interests you, reach out to me and we will get you on our contact list for future events!

THE DEADLY TORNADO OF 1973: One of the most significant weather events in Lakeville history occurred on May 9, 1973 when a tornado hit the northwestern part of Lakeville, destroying homes and property, injuring numerous people, and resulting in the death of a boy. 2025-26 Directory and Community Guide

Chamber members get two-for-one exposure in this, as we distribute 650 spiral bound directories to current and new Chamber members, and then we print an additional 3,000 copies, in magazine form, and circulate those throughout the community all year. We also have the digital guide on our website all year long. Members have the opportunity to purchase full color ads throughout the magazine to market your business to fellow members and the Lakeville community at large.
