Goal for 2022
Blankets for 30,000
Children in Foster Care

Together we can do it,
one blanket at a time!

My Very Own Blanket brings blankets of love, comfort and hope to children in foster care. Here is how you can help us do just that!

  • Order blanket kits online. Pick up inside our workshop Monday - Friday, 9 am to Noon, or use our 24-hour curbside bin just outside the workshop.

  • Drop off your finished blankets in the 24-hour curbside bin outside our workshop..

PHOTO ABOVE: Home Depot employees from New Jersey made 25 blankets for MVOB at a team building event in December. The company also donated boxes of the clear plastic bags that we use for transporting quantities of blankets.
Husband's experience in foster care inspires Blanket Angel
Many of our volunteers or their family members have a connection with the foster care system, sometimes even with a special blanket!

Vanessa (shown with an MVOB blanket she made) sent us this story about her husband as a boy and his blanket.

Children choose blankets from quilt gallery

Beautiful quilts handmade for children in foster care decorate the walls of the Child and Family Services office in Bozeman, Montana.

Staff member Alex told us about this unique idea, “We place blankets on our walls and as children walk our hallways, if they see a blanket they like, they get to keep it. It provides our walls with gorgeous art pieces that change as blankets find children and we have new ones go up.”

Blanket Angel Judy is the local quilt artist, and she is encouraging others in her area to donate as well. Thank you, Judy!    Check out our Delivering Blankets page for donation locations all over the U.S.
Do you advocate for children in foster care?
If you are a caseworker or advocate for children in foster care, we would love to provide blankets that you can share with kids who could use something to hold onto. Just tell us how many you need. 614-530-3327 or info@myveryownblanket.org
Three generations of Blanket Angels
These three Blanket Angels—Kira, her mother Virginia and her grandmother Odette—visited our workshop recently to donate blankets, including the pink quilt made by Kira with help from her grandmother when she visits from her home in Canada.

Odette may even make blankets for children in foster care in Canada when she returns home by ordering tags from our website, attaching them to her blankets and donating them nearby. Places to donate in Canada
