A FATAL CROSSING
by Tom Hindle
"a murder at sea, committed on a ship as lavish as it is large."
|
|
Set on board a 1920s cruise liner bound for New York, A Fatal Crossing tells the story of Timothy Birch, a ship’s officer forced to accompany an irritable detective after the body of a passenger is discovered on deck. Think: Agatha Christie meets Titanic and you’ll be on the right track. It’s a book for lovers of a Golden Age whodunit and readers who like their mysteries brimming with curious clues and scheming suspects.
I’ve wanted to write A Fatal Crossing for over a decade now, having stumbled on the idea during my final year at school. It was originally intended as a play, which I would stage with some friends. Although that plan never came to fruition, the notion stayed with me: a murder at sea, committed on a ship as lavish as it is large.
There’s just something about a traditional murder mystery that I’ve always found intoxicating. The locked-room setting, the body in the library, the gasp-out-loud moment when the murderer is revealed… I’ve tried to capture all of that and more with A Fatal Crossing and it’s such a joy to finally welcome readers aboard.
I hope it thrills, that it baffles and, perhaps most importantly, that it keeps you guessing – right until the bitter end.
