Join us for the first session on OVERTHROWS on MAY 26th at 7:00  at
These sessions are open to umpires of all levels, coaches, players, parents and anyone else interested in learning more about specific baseball rules!

Each session will highlight news and initiatives related to umpiring, and then feature an in-depth analysis of a specific rule, with video examples and discussion.

In this session, you will learn:
  • the difference between an overthrow and a wild throw
  • that different base awards apply depending on whether the overthrow was from a pitcher, infielder, or outfielder
  • how base awards change depending on whether a ball deflects directly out of play off a fielder, or is subsequently deflected
  • and more about overthrows!

SCHOLARSHIP and HALL OF FAME
The R. Jack Middlemass Memorial Scholarship assists aspiring young people in pursuit of post secondary education.

The recipient will be awarded $3,700 CDN, presented at the time of registration at university or college.
The Baseball Ontario Hall of Fame provides the opportunity to recognize individuals and teams that have achieved the highest standards and commitment to the sport of baseball in Ontario.

Nominations are now being accepted for the class of 2022!

uOTTAWA RESEARCH PROJECT
Sara Kramers, a PhD student at the University of Ottawa, is looking for coaches input about how we can improve competitive sport for current and future young athletes. By participating in this study, you’ll discuss and reflect with Sara about important topics in competitive sport, such as how sport can become more equitable for all athletes, or what lessons can we teach athletes that are important within and beyond sport.

To participate, you must be coaching a competitive team/program with athletes ages 14-24 years old this year in Canada. Your participation would include:
  • 1 interview at the beginning of your season (about 60-90 mins)
  • Collecting items for a reflective portfolio during your season
  • And 1 interview at the end of your season (about 60-90 mins).
