Spring 2020 updates from The George C. Marshall International Center
George C. Marshall’s Dodona Manor Goes Virtual
The George C. Marshall International Center (GCMIC) team has been busy behind the scenes working on innovative ways to stay connected with all of our friends, members and affiliates from around the globe.

Here are a few exciting programs you can enjoy to stay connected that continue to help us inspire leadership through George C. Marshall’s guiding principles:
We've taken our book club virtual!
Last month, we launched our virtual platform to engage our book club members, and we are happy to announce it was well received.

Our next virtual book club will take place on Wednesday, May 6th , when we will discuss The Age of Illusions , by Andrew Bacevich.

This event is free for all membership levels, and available at a low cost for non-member attendees. Click here for more information and to register for our next book club.

We've also gone virtual with our foreign policy brown bag lunches!
If you have not yet participated in one of these discussions, you're in for a treat! This month, we will be discussing Haig’s Coup,  written by Ray Locker (the former Editor of USA TODAY). In this book, Locker used recently declassified documents to tell the true story of how Secretary of State Alexander Haig orchestrated Nixon’s demise, resignation, and subsequent pardon.

Join us virtually at noon on Thursday, May 21 for lunch and compelling conversation. This event is free for all membership levels and available at a low cost for non-member attendees.

Now & Then at Dodona Manor : A 12-Week Video Series
“My goal is to spark a newfound interest in one of the most important figures of the 20th century and better educate everyone about his accomplishments, leadership, legacy." -Cody Youngblood
Distance Learning from
Dodona Manor
Coming soon, we are launching our 12-week video distance-learning program as part of our newly established, Family Membership plan. This series, Now and then at Dodona Manor, is designed for children and adults from 12 and up. Presented by our Museum Director, Cody Youngblood (pictured left), this 12-part series will take viewers on an Antiques Roadshow -esque adventure using fascinating artifacts found within Dodona Manor.

Every episode, Cody will shed light on 20th-century American history and the inspired leadership of General George C. Marshall. Each video series attendee will receive materials to dive deeper and learn more. A FREE preview of this series will be announced every week on our social media to allow everyone the opportunity to enjoy learning something new about George C. Marshall and Dodona Manor.

The best part is that when we open again for visitors, there will be a scavenger hunt to find the items from this series.

Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay on top of everything we have to offer!

Introducing the Marshalls' Victory Giving Garden

Spring is arriving, and our team of fantastic gardeners are beginning to plan out the gardens here at George C. Marshall’s Dodona Manor. In honor of the love both George and Catherine had for gardening, we are launching the Marshalls' Victory Giving Garden, to enjoy, learn and grow virtually. Everyone who participates in the program will receive a special packet of seeds, a garden trowel and instructions on how to plant their seeds. Then, every week, one of our amazing gardeners will share with you tips on how to make every element of a garden grow, pictures of our gardens, and other fun facts and ideas about gardening. This will be an interactive group! We hope you send us pictures of your gardens and welcome your questions about all things garden. We look forward to the time when we can invite you in person again to see what we have grown, together.

The Garden membership includes so many other great features for kids and families. Below is the official description of this level of membership:
Dodona Manor wouldn’t be what it is without its beautiful landscaping and signature gardens. The Garden membership makes you an automatic member of the Marshalls' Victory Giving Garden. When you sign up, we provide the seeds, trowel and instructions to start planting your very own garden. We will be sharing tips and pictures as well as answering your questions! Also, when it is safe to open to the public, we will invite our gardeners to take a personal tour of the gardens and form in person meet-ups through October (when it is safe to do so) to share and learn about gardening!
