A new NTEP® web site! See the graphic above

What is NTEP®'s new web site about?

The new NTEP® web site will not only feature an up-to-date design, but will also showcase the Turfgrass Trial Explorer, NTEP®'s database search engine. In addition to traditional NTEP® data, news articles, videos from NTEP®'s YouTube channel and other information will be available. A donation page will also be featured, so please consider donating to help NTEP® move forward! We expect the site will be up sometime in spring, so please look for it!

2024 Trial information:

National Tall Fescue Test

A new five-year tall fescue trial was established in fall 2024 at twenty-six sites: fourteen standard trial locations and twelve ancillary trial locations. Ancillary trials include drought, traffic, shade, fairway mowing, grey leaf spot and sod strength. The trial contains 108 entries.

The first data from this trial will be available in spring 2026.

New Trials for 2025!

Bermudagrass, Zoysiagrass & Warm-Season Putting Green

Warm-season grasses such as bermudagrass and zoysiagrass have been tested by NTEP® since the late 1980's, early 1990's. Both seeded and vegetative entries of these species are planned for establishment in summer 2025. In addition, our third warm-season putting green trial will be established at multiple southern U.S. locations. Advisory committees for these trials are developing evaluation parameters and suggesting trial locations. More information on these trials will be available soon.

NTEP® receives USDA grant!

In conjunction with the University of Minnesota, NTEP® has received a $297,000, two-year grant from the USDA, Data Science for Food and Agricultural Systems program to initiate innovative data analysis and display techniques, making those available to datasets that utilize subjective data as turfgrass does.  This project will impact many agricultural industries and provide a foundation for development of improved tools specific to their crop. The project, Development of Latent Scale Machine Learning Models to Improve the Accuracy of Crop Evaluation Using Subjective Spatio-Temporal Data, runs from Sept. 2024 - August 2026. More information can be found here.
