City of Leesville Announces Strategic Plan for Water System Improvement

LEESVILLE--The City of Leesville has reevaluated its priority list for the water system and has devised a two-phase plan for addressing issues within the system, using a $2 million budget left over from a $4.8 million loan from the Department of Health and Hospitals in 2013 and capital outlay. City of Leesville to Conduct Online Tax Sales

LEESVILLE, La.-- Leesville Mayor Rick Allen announced that the City of Leesville will be conducting online tax sale auctions of properties with delinquent taxes.
  
On September 28, 2015, the Leesville City Council approved Resolution 70 of 2015 allowing Mayor Allen to enter into a professional service agreement on behalf of the City with the Louisiana Municipal Advisory and Technical Services Bureau (LMATS) to assist in the collection of fees and delinquent property taxes, including, but not limited to, tax sales.    Click here to read more about late fees.

Mardi Gras Festivities for February 6th
       
LEESVILLE, La.-- The Vernon Parish Chamber of Commerce is holding their annual Mardi Gras parade at 2 p.m. Saturday, February on 3rd street in Leesville. Before the parade come downtown to hear some live music, eat great food, and purchase merchandise from the Main Street Merchants and various vendors at the Friends of Leesville Main Street Mardi Gras Festival.

Vernon Parish King Day Coalition MLK Day Events a Great Success

LEESVILLE, La.-- The Vernon Parish King Day Coalition, a local organization, holds annual events in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This year they held their annual Scholarship Banquet on Thursday, January 14. Pleasant Hill Baptist Church hosted a community worship service on January 17. The annual King Day Parade and Rally was held on Monday, January 18.   Click here to view pictures from the various events.

Pride Industries Installs Handicap Equipment at MLK Center

LEESVILLE, La.-- Men from Pride Industries spent their Saturday morning installing handicap playground equipment at the MLK Community Center Park. The team set the main part of the equipment, and will be back later in the week to place the swings on their bays once the concrete is dry. A big thank you to this hardworking group of guys! Mayor Allen Congratulates Pitkin Lady Tiger Cross Country Team on being State Runner-up

LEESVILLE, La.-- Mayor Rick Allen visited Pitkin High School to congratulate the girl's cross country team on placing 2nd runner-up in the state competition. The Mayor spoke to the girls about always remembering to thank those that help them achieve everything that they succeed in.
 
Each team member received a certificate of congratulations. The school was also presented with a proclamation stating that December 14th will be "Pitkin Lady Tiger Cross Country Team 2015 Day." Congratulations to these girlsClick here to view photos.
