GIVE BACK - VOLUNTEER

The new year offers a fresh start and an opportunity to make a difference by volunteering. All month, we will be spotlighting ways to volunteer with Redwood City Public Library.

First up - Project READ! You can impact the life of an adult or child by becoming a volunteer literacy tutor at Project READ. Volunteer tutors work one-on-one for just a few hours a week in a supportive environment, helping learners attain their personal literacy and learning goals.

Project READ offers tutor training for new community volunteers six times a year. The first 2026 Adult Tutor Training takes place January 15, 22 and 29 from 6-8:30pm. If you are interested in tutoring or volunteering with Project READ, please sign up online, stop by or contact us at rclread@rewoodcity.org; (650) 780-7077.

Project READ also offers teen tutor trainings on a monthly basis. The first 2026 Teen Tutor Training takes place January 13 from 4:30-6:30pm. Please sign up online, stop by or contact us at clevy@rewoodcity.org; (650) 780-5953.

NEW YEAR, NEW SKILLS

In addition to volunteering, are you looking to learn a new skill in 2026? In the weeks ahead, we’ll be highlighting free learning opportunities you can access with your library card.

We are thrilled to announce the library's newest lifelong learning resource - LinkedIn Learning! LinkedIn Learning gives you free access to professionally created tutorials on business, software, web design, photography, video, 3D animation and more. Level up in your career, learn how to start your own business or learn a new technical skill at your own pace.
