Have you had your newborn hearing screening equipment calibrated?

As we continue our mission to ensure every newborn has access to timely and effective hearing screening, it is imperative to emphasize the significance of annual calibration for our screening equipment. Whether you utilize Automated Auditory Brainstem Response (AABR) or Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) technology, annual calibration is essential for maintaining accuracy and reliability.

Why annual calibration matters

Why annual calibration matters

It is important to calibrate your newborn hearing screening equipment for these reasons:

Compliance and Quality Assurance

Annual calibration of equipment reflects our commitment to professional standards and assures the quality and reliability of our services. Records from annual calibration should be documented and stored for compliance and legal purposes.

Accuracy

Annual calibration of equipment ensures the frequencies and sound levels we present to the baby’s ears are correct, increasing the accuracy of the test results.

Scheduling calibration

Calibration services can be performed by the manufacturer of your equipment or a 3rd party company with specialized calibration skills. If you need help identifying who can provide annual calibration of your equipment, please reach out to COEHDI dedicated audiology support and we’d be happy to assist you!
