Crews will be off the road by Noon on Friday, May 22, 2026 and resume work at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday.


TRAFFIC IMPACTS:


Single-lane closures will be in place on Interstate 91 North starting between Exits 16 and 17. The closures will shift between the high- and low-speed lanes as work progresses north. A speed limit reduction to 55 mph will be in place. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces.

Shoulder clean-up operations.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:


Paving the initial lift of pavement (the leveling layer) this week was postponed due to the rain. The contractor intends to begin this next week starting at the beginning of the project limits between Exits 16 and 17.

LOCATION:


This project begins approximately five miles south of the Exit 17 ramps on Interstate 91 North in Newbury. It progresses 10.110 miles north through the interchange and ends in Ryegate. Work to be completed on this project includes milling and resurfacing the existing highway and the Exit 17 northbound on and off ramps. Additional improvements will include guardrail, drainage, pavement markings, and other related highway work.
