Newcastle Chamber Newsletter Update - April 19 2020
Survey Monkey questionnaire
You should have recently received a questionnaire via Survey Monkey. We are introducing this as another way to gather member feed back and suggestions. Our first attempt at this was relative to our new way of doing business due to Covid 19 and we have found a couple of things we need to adjust.

Our objective was to create a list for our newsletter to advise who was conducting business during this shutdown and how. We also wanted to create a contact list of people either available to assist with PPE or assist with seniors or shut ins and contribute to the Food Bank. A stumbling block in getting this proved to be the businesses that respond using their phone shows neither a business name or their phone number. Moving forward the first question will be to give us your business name.

We received 31 responses, which is not bad for our first attempt, but we can all do better. Here are the numbers for the Assist portion of the survey:

Able to help with PPE -3 responses
Contact Bowmanville Hospital and they will direct you.

Able to donate to the Clarington East Food Bank – 10 responses
Donations will help us stock our shelves with specific items that we can buy at wholesale or bulk discounts. Please visit Clarington East Food Bank website (www.claringtoneastfoodbank.ca) to make an online Canada Helps donation.

Able to assist with seniors or shut ins -15 responses
We have been in contact with Jason Van Stiphout, a chamber member. Jason is also involved with the Bowmanville Rotary who are in the process of coordinating these efforts. To get involved in assisting please contact Jason at: jason@soldbyjason.ca

Shout out and thanks to Food Bank contributors:

  • Newcastle Chamber of Commerce
  • Algoma Orchards
  • Newcastle Bowling Association
  • Let’s keep growing this list. Advise me of your participation:

Currently we have several renewals outstanding and of course others will come due moving forward. The decision has been made to defer payments until our members are once again operating their businesses. We will send an email advising of your renewal and request you advise if you are intending to renew.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT:
Are you taking advantage of this time to catch up on projects that have been getting put off? This is also a great time to give thought to what you will do to restart your business. This will come to an end. Have a plan in place to have a running start.
Stay safe, be aware and we all need to stand together, separately.
Do you have an event you want us to advertise?? Go to our webpage, newcastle.on.ca, use the events dropdown and send us the information.

If you have any concerns, please contact our webmaster,
