In early July, there was an attempted burglary at a residence in the Reserve community in Newcastle. A month later, the same residence was burglarized. A few days later, during a separate investigation, Bellevue Special Emphasis Detectives found items from the Newcastle burglary.
With the assistance of the KCSO Crime Analyst and our Flock ALPR (Automate License Plate Recognition) cameras, Bellevue PD was able to establish a connection between an unincorporated King County stolen vehicle, the Newcastle burglary, and burglaries in Bellevue and possibly other areas. This combined effort led to the successful arrest of one suspect last week, with surveillance assistance from Maple Valley PD.
One suspect remained outstanding. A custom alert was placed in the Flock System in case the suspect vehicle returned to the city. Earlier this week, we received a Flock Alert indicating the vehicle was back in Newcastle. Bellevue PD was notified, responded and located the second suspect to take them into custody.
This investigation was a collaborative success involving Bellevue PD, Newcastle PD, KCSO Patrol, Maple Valley PD, Renton PD, the Reserve HOA/community, and the Crime Analysts from KCSO and Bellevue. As a result, at least six cases were solved.
