Diamond Hill Road and Douglas Pike Bridges over I-295, Cumberland/Smithfield
On Sunday night, May 10, we’re scheduled to shift all travel lanes on Route 7 (Douglas Pike) over I-295 to their original configuration. This will require alternating lane or temporary closures, as needed, of Route 7 North and South over I-295, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Please follow signed detours.
Although no lane closures are scheduled next week, our crews working along Route 7 at the Douglas Pike Bridge plan to build its approach slabs, waterproof its bridge decks, grade and prepare to pave its approaches and decks, install guardrail, and do minor landscaping. On Diamond Hill Road, operations will include drainage work, temporary bridge support removal, and placement of the new Diamond Hill Road Bridge onto its new pier.

Bridge Group 18C_R – Frenchtown, East Greenwich/ North Kingstown
On Monday and Tuesday nights, we are scheduled to continue placing steel beams at the South County Trail Bridge. This will require the closure of Route 4 South, from Exit 7 to Exit 5, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Otherwise, motorists can expect alternating lane closures along Route 4 North and South, in the vicinity of Exit 5, Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. to prepare for bridge deck construction at the South County Trail Bridge. Please follow signed detours during all closures.

I-95 15 Bridges, Providence/Cranston/Warwick
Next week at this project, we plan to continue to demolish a portion of the Jefferson Boulevard southbound bridge and build the new northbound one. The bridges carry Jefferson Boulevard over I-95. We are also scheduled to demolish a portion of the southbound Pawtuxet River Bridge, carrying I-95 over the Pawtuxet River, drive piles at the north abutment for the Eddy Street Bridge, carrying Eddy Street over I-95, and place overhang brackets and forms as we build the new bridge deck at the Huntington South Bridge, which carries Route 10 South over I-95. Motorists can expect alternating lane closures on I-95 North and South, from Route 37 to Thurbers Avenue, for these operations, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The I-95 ‘Missing Move’ and Quonset Ramps Construction, North Kingstown/East Greenwich
Our weekday blasting operations, which require the closure of Route 4 South in the vicinity of I-95 South (Exit 24B), will continue between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. for a maximum of 10 minutes each day. Through these operations, we can expedite bedrock removal within the pathway of the new ramp we will build between I-95 North and Route 4 South. All lanes on I-95 South remain open to traffic, with possible backups to Cowesett Road. Please plan extra time for travel or seek alternative routes. Also, at this project, expect a gravel road and alternating one-way traffic at the intersection of West Davisville Road and Compass Circle. This is in effect Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., as we work to improve the roadways and pave.

Post Road & West Main Street Curb & Sidewalk, North Kingstown
Project crews will focus on drainage installation next week. Expect a right lane closure with frequent vehicle access in/out of the work zone, and narrowed lanes on Route 1 (Post Road) South, from Camp Avenue to West Main Street, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Restrictions to local driveways, walkways, or parking areas may also occur. In addition, North Kingstown Water’s water line work, from Richard Smith Drive to West Main Street, and Rhode Island Energy’s project-wide gas line installation will also continue.

Route 37 Improvements, Cranston/Warwick
Bridge Group 51C: I-295 to Pontiac Avenue and from Amtrak to Post Road
Next week, motorists can expect the closure of Route 2 (New London Avenue) under Route 37 while crews continue demolishing the existing abutment at the existing New London Avenue Bridge, Sunday-Thursday nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Only one direction of travel will be closed at a time, starting with Route 2 South. Please follow the signed detour. Expect left lane closures for median work on Route 37 East and West over Route 5, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., a right lane closure to install fencing and remove debris netting on Route 37 East over Route 1 (Post Road), Monday and Tuesday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., and alternating lane closures on Post Road under Route 37 to install drainage, curbing and perform preliminary work to build a new ramp for Route 37 East, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Route 146 Bridges, Lincoln
To date, we have completed milling and paving operations throughout the project area, including the Twin River Road Bridge, Breakneck Hill Road Bridge, and Route 146 North and South at Breakneck Hill and Twin River roads. Next week, we are scheduled to install guardrail at various locations and remove form work. Expect alternating lane closures along Route 146 North and South at Twin River Road and Breakneck Hill Road, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Following this week's operations, we anticipate final epoxy striping in about two weeks.
Next week, we are scheduled to continue to mill and pave various roadways within the project area, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. These improvements will involve the closures of Exit 10 off Route 146 North and South, Route 146A South at Dowling Village Boulevard, the on-ramp from Route 146A South to Route 146 North, the Route 146 North and South Service Roads, between Route 99 and Route 146A, the west side of Sayles Hill Road, from Route 146 to Iron Mine Hill Road, and alternating lanes on the east side of Sayles Hill Road, from Route 99 to Route 146. Westbound traffic from Route 99 also will be detoured, no traffic will be allowed under the Sayles Hill Road Flyover Bridge, and left turns from Route 146 North at Sayles Hill Road will not be permitted. Drainage installation also will require alternating lane closures on Route 99 South, from Exit 1 to Route 146 South, and a detour of Route 99 South at Exit 1 (Sayles Hill Road), Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Please follow signed detours during all closures.

School Street, Lincoln
Our ongoing pavement improvements continue on School Street in Lincoln, with two crews performing drainage and sewer main installations weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Local access is allowed, but through traffic must follow a signed detour between Route 126 (Old River Road) and Main Street in Albion.

Warwick Corridor Project
Next week, daytime operations will focus on installing curbing and placing concrete sidewalks at various locations along Route 113 (Main Avenue.) Project crews also will start excavating and grading for a precast barrier prior to installing it within the I-295 the center median. No lane closures are expected.
Construction-related activities continue on the Washington Bridge Rebuild project, with design, survey, site preparation, the ordering of materials and mobilization of equipment.
Bridge preservation work at the Providence River (Iway) Bridge along I-195 West, from Exit 1C to Exit 1A, is scheduled next week. Expect one right lane to be closed from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., and two right lanes to be closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., Sunday-Tuesday nights, May 3-5. On Wednesday and Thursday nights, May 6 and 7, expect one left to be closed from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and the closure of the two middle lanes for this work from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
