All the colors of the Rainbow:

As June comes to a close, we wanted to look back at Pride month and recognize one of our participating artists in our LGBTQUIA+ show, Queer Under the Big Sky, with a special framer's corner.

Britta Wulf, a Montana-based graphic designer and digital artist, has created some amazing pieces that have wowed audiences in our gallery.

One of her standout pieces, "Is That a Sine Wave," caught the eye of our owner, Amy Doty, who designed a colorful and unique frame to showcase Britta's work.

Read on to learn more about Amy's frame design and the beautiful collaboration between art and framing.

Amy knew she wanted to highlight the bright colors in the piece, especially from the rainbow to the side of the figure in this piece.

She knew she would need very bright rich colors, so instead of going for matting in the piece, she chose to stack multiple frames that all felt they encompassed the vibrance needed to accent the strong yellow background of the piece. Amy's colorful frame design was a true masterpiece that captured the essence of fun and vibrancy.

Starting with the frame Royal Lilac from Roma Moulding's Lavo line, she set the tone for the design with its bold and shiny finish. The frame exuded richness and sophistication, making it the perfect base for her creative vision.

Moving on to the Pop! line from Omega Moulding, Amy continued to play with bright and glossy frames that complemented the Royal Lilac frame beautifully. The Electric Blue scoop frame followed by the Tangerine scoop frame added a playful pop of color to the design, creating a mix of hues that were both eye-catching and harmonious

To complete the rainbow-inspired design, Amy added a fillet from Larson Juhl's Confetti line in a bright pink shade aptly named Tween Pink. This final touch added a fun and youthful element to the frame, tying the whole look together with a burst of color and energy.

As Amy carefully arranged the frames, it was evident that each choice was thoughtfully made to enhance the overall aesthetic. The different shapes, colors, and textures of the frames worked together seamlessly to create dynamic and visually striking piece that would undoubtedly elevate any artwork it housed.

One of the key decisions Amy made was to make purple as bold as the yellow in the artwork. She knew that the purple and yellow are opposites on the color wheel, and by juxtaposing these two vibrant hues, she was able to create a harmonious contrast that really made the design pop.

The result?

A visually striking frame design that is sure to capture the attention of anyone who sees it.

With the trend of bold and colorful frames on the rise, Amy's design was not only ahead of the curve but also a testament to her creativity and attention to detail. The end result was a frame that not only showcased the artwork with in but also became a work of art in itself.
