Job Searching at Age 50+

Those over age fifty may experience ageism when searching for a new job. Learn to overcome ageism through online learning, technology, research, and enthusiasm. What you say and how you come across will be as important as the skills you bring to the table, whether your next step is part-time or full-time work, starting a consulting business, or volunteering on a non-profit board.

Resumes that Get Results

Hiring managers spend only seven to ten seconds reviewing your resume, yet it is sometimes the first thing a potential employer sees that highlights your skills and accomplishments. Learn how to use key words and achievements to highlight your best characteristics and demonstrate how you can contribute to meeting the mission or bottom line of the organization.

Creating Your LinkedIn Profile to Get Noticed

Hiring managers and recruiters use Boolean searches on LinkedIn to find potential candidates for open positions. Learn the five key parts of a LinkedIn profile and how to write them, as well as the importance of key words, connections, and recommendations.

Acing the Interview

To get one job offer, you may have to go through three or more interviews. Understand what to expect during the screening interview and the call-back interviews. Learn the types of questions to expect: typical, difficult, and behavioral. Prepare to talk about your accomplishments and plan your follow up with each interviewer.
