Lakehill Community:
When the Lakehill Board of Directors tasked the Search Committee with recommending a Head of School to succeed Roger Perry, we knew it would be a daunting task. As we all know, Mr. Perry cannot be replaced. But the Committee worked tirelessly to identify the best individual to lead our school into the future. As we approach the 50th anniversary of our school, our new Head of School will inherit a strong community of students, parents, faculty and staff that are all ready to begin the next 50 years with energy and passion.
As we began the process with our search firm, we found a high level of interest in this opportunity from across the country. We narrowed down the original list of applicants to fifteen candidates, then focused on six semi-finalists. After lengthy Zoom calls with each of these six outstanding educators, we brought four dynamic, diverse finalists to our campus last month to spend two days with our community.
Each Head of School candidate asked the people they met, “What is great about Lakehill that we need to maintain and where are the opportunities for growth?” It was exciting to hear the variety of responses to this question and to see how each candidate would bring their own new ideas to our school, while respecting and encouraging our strengths and traditions.
Many of you spent time with our candidates and his/her spouse, where applicable. You asked great questions, filled out surveys with much thought, and sent direct feedback to the Committee. As a Committee, we greatly valued your engagement and took all of your feedback into account during our deliberations.
The Search Committee spent hours and hours with each candidate prior to and during their campus visits. We had the opportunity to break bread with them each evening and ended each visit with an in-depth review of their findings and our remaining questions. Each candidate was very engaged and forthcoming.
I want to thank so many people for their work in making this process a success. Thank you to the Lakehill parents, who spent so much time getting to know our candidates via the Zoom session and in submitting the surveys, as well as the PFC Executive Committee who moderated the sessions. Thank you to the faculty and staff for their hard work in making the visits so valuable for the candidates, especially during a year in which we are asking so much of them. Each candidate said the quality and organization of their visit was the best they have ever seen.
Thank you to the Board of Directors for their trust in the Search Committee throughout the process as well as the time spent with the candidates. And finally, I cannot say thank you strongly enough to the members of the Search Committee for the countless hours in this process. I assure everyone in our Community that all of your efforts were worth it!
