The Newport News Police Department (NNPD) is again participating in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, an initiative designed to prevent increased pill abuse and theft. On Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., the NNPD will join the Drug Enforcement Administration and agencies around the country to collect potentially dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs for destruction. During this event, residents can drop off prescription medications with no questions asked.
