Notable Newport Trees in Bloom
Our Collections Curator, Nick has been keeping his eyes peeled all month for those trees around town that are putting on the best show.

This week's feature is a yellow Magnolia 'Elizabeth' on Bellevue Ave.

To learn more about this hybrid of the cucumber and Yulan magnolia, and to browse earlier Trees of the Week, visit our website below:
25 New Neighbors Come to Town
Keep your eyes out for fresh mulch and bright new tree stakes. Newport residents sponsored the planting of 25 new trees all around town.

Be sure to give a wave to these new arrivals and send us a photo if you spot one around town!
What's Growing on at the Tree House?
Join our Executive Director, Natasha, Collections Curator, Nick, and Horticulturist, Kristyn for a tour of what's happening up at the Tree House now that our trees are starting to wake up.

Finding Inspiration in Trees
Newport printmaker, Elizabeth A Goddard recently shared with us this beautiful illustration of a young beech as it emerges from seed.

You may be thinking that these don't look like beech leaves at all, and you would be correct! These first-growth formations are called cotyledons, and will stay with the young seedling only until its true leaves form and begin photosynthesis.

Have you been inspired by our awakening urban forest? Send us your work and we'd be happy to share it!
Giving Tuesday Now - May 5th
Just like all non-profits in Rhode Island, we're doing our best to re-structure our offerings in response to COVID-19.

We're not sure what the future holds, but if you want to ensure that we are able to maintain the same level of excellence in the coming year, please consider an early pledge of support.

Your donation directly supports our work: purchasing trees for Newport's streets and parks, developing education programs for Newport's students, connecting residents and visitors with Newport's city-wide arboretum, and (when it's safe to do so) launching a new volunteer tree care initiative.

Pledge your support, and help us plant for the future.
