▶︎ SHABBAT SERVICE, FOLLOWED BY THE PBS DOCUMENTARY:

JEWISH JOURNEY: AMERICA

Join us at the Oneg Shabbat (to be held in the sanctuary) for this PBS-produced film about Jewish journeys to America, from the earliest arrivals in the mid-17th century through the impact of the Nazi regime in World War II, the creation of Israel, and the new challenges of 21st century assimilation.

Through personal stories representing what so many faced as they migrated to America, the film explores how Jews sought both economic opportunity and an escape from persecution.

PLEASE NOTE: Yahrzeit observances that were postponed by weather-affected services will be observed on Feb. 6.

▶︎ RABBI FALICK WILL DELIVER A 2-PART PRESENTATION

HOW HATRED ADAPTS: JEWISH PERSECUTION—THEN AND NOW

In this two-part Friday night presentation, Rabbi Falick will explore the long and complex history of hostility toward Jews, with special attention to how Jew-hatred has repeatedly changed its form across different eras.

Drawing on ancient sources, religious history, and modern political developments, the talks will examine three major manifestations of Jewish persecution: theological hostility rooted in religious doctrine, modern racial and ethnic antisemitism, and the contemporary phenomenon of antizionism as a vehicle for delegitimizing Jewish peoplehood.

Together, these sessions aim to provide historical clarity and conceptual tools for understanding why Jew-hatred persists—and why it so often appears in new and unsettling guises.

▶︎ Each talk is freestanding and can be attended independently. Both sessions will be live-streamed, recorded, and made available afterward on our YouTube channel for those unable to attend in person or who wish to watch later.
