WHERE IS OUR STRENGTH? IN ME AND IN YOU—AND IN OUR NAME

▶︎ MOVIE SHABBAT - IN PERSON ONLY
"THE FRISCO KID"
WITH A BRIEF PRESENTATION BY RABBI FALICK: "JEWS OF THE OLD WEST"
| | |
Join us for a screening of The Frisco Kid, the beloved 1979 comedy starring Gene Wilder as a Polish rabbi journeying across the Wild West with an unlikely outlaw companion, played by Harrison Ford.
Before the film, Rabbi Falick will talk about "Jews of the Old West," exploring the real stories behind Jewish pioneers who helped shape frontier life.
| | |
✦ Friday, Dec. 5, 7PM
▶︎ RABBI FALICK WILL SPEAK:
"BAD ARGUMENTS"
| | |
Rabbi Falick will lead a fast (and sometimes humorous) tour through An Illustrated Book of Bad Arguments—a sharp look at the logical traps that shape so much of today’s public conversation.
From straw men to slippery slopes, from bandwagons to “No True Scotsmen,” we will examine how these fallacies show up in real debates and how to spot them before they derail good thinking.
For Humanistic Jews, clear reasoning isn’t just a skill—it’s the foundation of our shared discourse and the heart of how we practice our tradition.
