Last year Columbus released its Climate Action Plan, committing to reducing carbon emissions 45% communitywide by 2030. But what's in the plan? What areas does it address? What are its goals?
Join Simply Living and Sustainable Columbus to learn more about the Columbus Climate Action Plan and new initiatives Columbus is pursuing to increase equity. Speakers include Erin Beck, Assistant Director of Sustainability, and one more TBA. There will be one or two short presentations followed by Q and A.

Oak (Quercus sp)
|
Oaks, the trees of the genus Quercus, are among the most important hardwood trees. There are approximately 500 species of oaks worldwide and a little under 100 in the United States, but they are found primarily in the northern hemisphere. Oaks provide a huge percentage of the edible mast for wildlife, and of course oak is tremendously useful as lumber. They are among the longest lived trees and can survive for four or five centuries in favorable conditions.

The American Sustainable Business Network (ASBN) and the Regenerative Agriculture and Justice Working Group invite you to their special event on Farm Bill and 2022 Policy Priorities Special Event, Part Two. These sessions are planned as a lead-up to the working group voting on and establishing their 2022 policy priorities.
Participation in this working group is normally restricted to ASBN members, but in the spirit of education, we are opening this speakers series to our broader network. If you are interested in how policy can be used to advance the goals of regenerative agriculture and a more just and equitable food system, this is a great opportunity to learn about the work key players are doing.
Part 2 will feature speakers from the following organizations:
- Federation of Southern Cooperatives/Land Assistance Fund
- National Family Farm Coalition
- Earthjustice

When you think of Gaza, you may think of war and destroyed buildings, of economic hardships, the strangling siege, the high unemployment rate, the poverty and deprivation—but less often do we see the deprivation that is the invisible, unmet needs for psychological support for a population so in need of it. One wonders what is the effect on a Palestinian child’s mind to hold the idea that they’re living in ‘imprisonment’ while the rest of the world’s kids live in freedom. Gaza: Still Alive is not full of images of war planes, bomb craters or other war footage. Rather, the film asks: how has a decade of siege affected people there? How has this affected their mental health and why? And what does this bode for the future? It focuses on the scars and craters inside the ordinary Gazan’s mind. He is the author of the newly-released book, Blind Spot: America and the Palestinians, from Balfour to Trump, published by Brookings Institution Press in April 2019. Elgindy previously served as a fellow in the Foreign Policy program at the Brookings Institution from 2010 through 2018. Prior to arriving at Brookings, he served as an adviser to the Palestinian leadership in Ramallah on permanent status negotiations with Israel from 2004 to 2009, and was a key participant in the Annapolis negotiations of 2007-08.
