✦ THIS FRIDAY, Nov. 22, 7PM
▶︎ RABBI FALICK WILL SPEAK:
IF I AM NOT FOR MYSELF?
IF I AM ONLY FOR MYSELF?
AND DO IT NOW?
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Rabbi Falick will take a closer look at the legendary teaching of Rabbi Hillel (1st century B.C.E.): “If I am not for myself, who is for me? But if I am for my own self alone, what am I? And if not now, when?”
Are our popular interpretations capturing what Hillel really meant, or are we missing his point—partially or entirely?
We’ll unpack this aphorism in its historical context and examine its modern uses (and misuses) to uncover its true message.
| |
✦ Dec. 6, 7PM
▶︎ RABBI FALICK WILL SPEAK:
RESILIENCE AND MEANING IN UNCERTAIN TIMES
In times of uncertainty and change, how do we find the strength to endure?
Drawing on Viktor Frankl’s groundbreaking book Man’s Search for Meaning and the wisdom of Jewish tradition, Rabbi Falick will talk about what it means to cultivate resilience, reflecting on how to turn inward for stability, turn outward for connection, and act with hope and urgency, all while embracing “the last of human freedoms”—our ability to choose how we respond to life’s challenges.

See the Detroit Showing of the Nova Exhibit
The Moment Music Stood Still: The Nova Music Festival Exhibition is a powerful memorial dedicated to the lives lost and forever changed at the Nova Music Festival on October 7. Through a collection of remnants and personal artifacts salvaged from the festival grounds, as well as video testimonies and written first-person accounts, visitors are invited to experience the stories, memories and messages of those who were present at the festival. The exhibition centers around a unifying call from survivors: “We will dance again,” and serves as a testament to both the vibrancy of life before the tragedy and the strength that emerges in its aftermath.
AT THE J
6600 W Maple Rd.
West Bloomfield Township
There is NO CHARGE, but tickets must be acquired in advance. Visit THIS LINK to get yours.
