Hello Riverfront Playhouse community.
I hope that you and your family, friends and loved-ones are safe and healthy at these challenging times. The future is somewhat uncertain as of this writing but it is my hope that we will see an end to the Covid-19 burden imposed on us soon.
As most of you are aware the board of directors has continued to move forward with the commitment to complete the new theatre in an expeditious and timely manner. Those of you who have watched the progress of remodeling our building at 1950 California Street will be glad to know we are just days away from obtaining our Occupancy Permit from the City of Redding.
Each of you, as well as the entire greater Redding community, should be most proud of this new cultural addition. Each time I enter the building I am overwhelmed with pride and gratitude to all those volunteers, donors and Riverfront visionarys who have made this theatre come to life. It is stunningly beautiful and a tribute to all those who have worked so hard to make it the showcase facility that it is.
The list of volunteers is too long to recount here but they will be recognized as part of our grand opening ceremony. (Date to be determined.) We are preparing for our first production on our new stage— the hilarious comedy
Clue
based on the Hasbro board game.
Thank you for all of your support.
See you at the show,
Darryll Alvey

Congratulations to Sophia Komarek- Cecil O. Johnson Scholarship Recipient
|
|
Each year,
graduating high school seniors have an opportunity to apply for a Cecil O. Johnson scholarship through Riverfront Playhouse. Those who apply intend to pursue college studies in theatre or related coursework. The applicants are chosen by a Riverfront board member panel. T
his year Sophia Komarek, a Shasta High School graduate, was awarded the $500 Cecil O. Johnson scholarship. She plans to attend either George Fox University or William Jessup University. She has participated in the Madrigal Dinner at Shasta High for the past four years, the last two were spent on the Royal Court. She participated in musicals at Shasta High, including Les Miserables and Little Mermaid. Not only did she perform, she was involved with the back stage crew during Little Mermaid. She was ready to perform in Fiddler on the Roof had it not been cancelled due to COVID-19. Theater and performing arts are her passion and she looks forward to learning and growing through college theater classes, choir and involvement in stage productions. Congratulations, Sophia! We wish you all the best!

Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie which was inspired by the classic Hasbro board game,
Clue
is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. The tale begins at a remote mansion, where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu. When their host turns up dead, they all become suspects. Led by the Wadsworth – the butler, Miss Scarlett, Professor Plum, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock and Colonel Mustard race to find the killer as the body count stacks up.
Clue
is the comedy whodunit that will leave both cult-fans and newcomers in stitches as they try to figure out…WHO did it, WHERE, and with WHAT!

The finishing touches are being added to our beautiful new theatre in downtown Redding and we can't wait to show it off! We also can't wait to see you!
Your opinion matters to us and we'd love to get your feedback. Currently, we are in Stage 2 of the California Road to Recovery Plan. In Stage 3, some entertainment venues will be allowed to open with limits on the size of gatherings. And in Stage 4, with therapeutics in place, large venues may reopen. Would you please take this quick survey and get it back to us by June 26?
Thank you! We hope to see you soon!

Shasta Builders Exchange provided the funds for our beautiful new sign that stands proudly in front the theater at 1950 California Street. We had a lot of help from Trilogy Architecture, who designed the sign, McHales Sign Co. constructed it and Gerlinger Steel donated much of the materials.

|
The stage in the auditorium was built by the Rotary Club of Redding . The theatre has 150 seats and check out that curtain!

|
The spacious Green Room has plenty of room for our cast to study lines and relax before, during and after the show. The fabulous lighted mirror tables were built by Tom Taylor.
