From the Pastor's Desk
A New Beginning
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
It is a privilege and a joy to greet you for the first time through these pages. As I begin my ministry among you, I do so with gratitude, humility, and a deep sense of anticipation for the journey that lies ahead.
Every congregation has a story. It is a story shaped by faith, worship, service, challenges, celebrations, and the countless ways God has been at work through the lives of ordinary people. Long before a new pastor arrives, God is already present, sustaining the community and guiding its ministry. For that reason, I come not to begin the story, but to become part of it.
The life of the Church is built upon relationships—our relationship with God and our relationships with one another. In the weeks and months ahead, I look forward to learning more about this congregation, listening to your stories, discovering your hopes for the future, and sharing in the ministries that God has entrusted to us together. Ministry is never the work of one person alone. It is the shared calling of God's people, each bringing their gifts, experiences, and faith to the life of the community.
The Apostle Paul describes the Church as the Body of Christ, a community in which many different members are joined together by one Lord and one Spirit. That image is a helpful reminder as we begin this new chapter together. Each congregation has its own history, traditions, strengths, and challenges. Each member brings unique gifts and experiences. Yet Christ gathers us into one body and calls us to share in a common life of worship, service, learning, and witness.
One of the great blessings of the Church is that we never walk alone. We inherit the faith of those who came before us, we share it with those who walk beside us, and we seek to pass it on to those who will follow after us. In every generation, God continues to call, gather, enlighten, and sanctify God's people, drawing us together into a community of grace.
My prayer is that we may grow together in faith, deepen our life of worship, strengthen our witness to Christ, and continue to serve our neighbors with compassion and joy. Above all, may we remain attentive to the presence of God among us, for it is Christ who gathers the Church, Christ who sustains the Church, and Christ who leads the Church forward.
Thank you for the warm welcome you have already extended to me. I look forward to meeting many of you in the days ahead and to sharing in the work and ministry that God has prepared for us together.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
With every blessing,
The Rev. Luis I. Echandía
