Be an Ambassador for The Academies
Think your school is doing great things? Put the word on the street! Be an Ambassador for The Academies.
- Parent and student voices are the most powerful voice to spread the word about our schools -85% of respondents to our Interest Form stated that they heard about us from friends or family.
How can you help spread the word? Here are 5 things you can do over the winter break:
- Start a conversation
- at a holiday party, at church, at the park, at the post office!
- "Sally is doing great! She loves her teacher and her school is great because..."
- Read our Fast Facts so you will be prepared to answer common questions
- Print our one page application and carry it with you to give to all of those folks you speak with.
- Forward our News & Notes emails to friends who might be interested
- Share, post, re-post, tweet, and re-tweet your little heart out. Look for some great shareable FB posts coming soon!
Want to do more?
Contact us to become part of our Ambassadors Street Team! We have several outreach events scheduled in the coming months and would love to have more parent ambassadors attend to share their experiences.
Spanish speaking families are especially encouraged to join us at these events!

High School Prep!
Our middle school students listened intently as VUSD representatives spoke to them about the rigors and requirements of high school on Tuesday morning.
These wide-eyed youngsters learned that they will soon be considered young adults and will take on greater responsibility for their education than ever before.
Presenters went over requirements for high school graduation and for preparation for entry into universities in the UC and CSU systems upon graduation. District staff also spoke to students about the importance of maintaining good study habits and told them about resources available to students at District high schools.
Parents, ask your middle school student about what they learned.
Do they have concerns about academic and social pressures of high school? Do they see a connection between the Habits of a Scholar they are developing here and their future as a young adult in high school? How will these Habits help them face the challenge and rigor of high school?
