A Message from Mrs. Krehbiel, Head of School

Dear OCA Family,

I am pleased to share that as our school grows, we are adding administrative staff to our team. I will continue to serve OCA as its Head of School, taking care of all the superintendent responsibilities, overseeing accreditation and all the functions of the school.

I will be transferring my responsibilities as Principal to Mr. Shanks. Mr. Shanks will work closely with Mrs. Cochran, who will continue to serve OCA as Assistant Principal. 

Our administrative team is looking forward to a great school year, continuing to educate students in light of Biblical truth. We are committed to building a strong educational and spiritual foundation for our students so they can launch from OCA prepared for life and the work God has gifted them to do.

You will have an opportunity to meet Mr. Shanks at the Back to School Bash on Friday, August 4 (see details for this fun event in this issue of News and Notes). In the meantime, see the message below from Mr. Shanks himself.

Hello OCA Family!

My name is Steve Shanks and I am the new K-12 Principal at Omaha Christian Academy. I am sincerely humbled and honored to be here. The way God has worked in my life during the last 3 months has been incredibly inspiring. My wife Michelle and I have moved to Omaha from Iowa and have been renewed personally and professionally.

I grew up in Fort Dodge, Iowa and attended Iowa State University. I became a middle school social studies teacher and coach in a few small and large schools over 14 years. After gaining a master's degree in school administration and then an education specialist degree, I began 22 years of being a school principal. For the past 12 years, I've been the head principal of the public middle school in Le Mars, Iowa.  

I became a born-again Christian in June of 2006. It was the best decision I have ever made. Following Christ has affected my marriage, my family and my career in a multitude of positive ways. I've been wanting to get into Christian education for several years . . . and here I am!  I am so excited to be at OCA. I am looking forward to learning from and leading our staff so that we honor God and prepare these young people for life that is truly life.

I'm also looking forward to meeting all of our OCA families. Please don't hesitate to stop in or give me a call. Education is a partnership between the school and the parents, so let's keep communication lines open.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL CAMP

Registration for the upcoming High School Football Camp is open. This camp is for those planning to play on OCA’s team this Fall. Payment must be submitted to the office prior to the start of the camp.

Planning Study for New High School Extended

The planning study to gauge support for a new Christian high school in Omaha has been extended to allow for more participation!

The Steier Group, which is conducting the study for Omaha Christian Academy and Lifegate Christian School, requested the extension into July.

OMAHA STORMCHASERS FAITH & FAMILY NIGHT

OCA is the community organization of the night for the Omaha Stormchasers on August 12. It is Faith and Family night and following the game David Crowder will be performing!  You will definitely want to come out and support our very own Mrs. Krehbiel as she throws out the first pitch of the game and has an on the field live interview!

2. Click MY SCHOOL (on the left side)
3. Click ENROLLMENT > Click ONLINE PORTAL
4. Click ADMISSIONS (on the left side)
5. Click ENROLLMENT (scroll to the bottom and click button next to student's name)

A $50 registration fee will be auto-billed for all returning students. After May 31st registration fee increases to $300.
