Poetry & Prose
SVA was represented by eight students, from Kindergarten through 8th grade, at TCOE's Poetry & Prose event on Thursday. The students who performed were Avigail Mosetick, Violet Sommer, Sebastian Montti. Samuel Casas, Mia Angulo, Hana Dussan, Harper Dutton, and Micah Stinson. From classic poems by Shel Silverstein to original works by two of our middle school students, this group certainly entertained and impressed the judges, as well as the audience. Congratulations to each of these students for their dedication and effort!

A Message From Principal Phillips
Hello wonderful families of The Academies,
As The Academies grows, our family of educators grows as well. We are excited about the changes coming next year, with current staff taking new assignments and new staff joining the TACMO family.
At Blue Oak, Mrs. Johnson is moving from a 1st & 2nd Grade classroom to 3rd Grade. Ms. Yado is moving from her 1st & 2nd Grade classroom at Sycamore Valley to share her talents in
1st & 2nd Grade at Blue Oak. These changes bring two new teachers to our team of educators. I'm happy to introduce them to you today!
Mr. Rafael Enriquez will join Blue Oak as a
3rd Grade teacher. Born and raised in Tulare, CA Rafael graduated from Tulare Union High School before pursuing studies in film and journalism.
Mr. Enriquez has always had a passion working with youth of all ages and enjoys serving his community.
He fell in love with education while working with students in the Pro-Youth HEART program and knew fulfillment would come from a career in education.
Mr. Enriquez began his career in education as a Program Leader for the HEART Program, working with 2nd graders. He eventually attained the position of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Specialist, and that is where his passion for education grew. As a member of the STEM team, Rafael taught inquiry-based STEM lessons in the fields of life science and physical science in the communities of Strathmore, Woodville, and Visalia, CA.
Mr. Enriquez attained grant funding for the Pro-Youth STEM program and was later able to leverage this grant into more funding from the local school district, resulting in the development of the Growbotics program. Through the Growbotics program, school gardens were established in every school in the Visalia Unified School District with the leadership of Mr. Enriquez and the help of students, teachers, staff, community members, and other innumerable contributors. The
Growbotics STEM program
helped bring STEM activities to over 10,000 students in Tulare County, and was a labor of love for Mr. Enriquez.
Mr. Enriquez received his
Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from
Fresno Pacific University. He brings with him a love of literature, live music, comic books, and film. We are confident he will make a great addition to the TACMO family and the Blue Oak teaching team.
Recently married, Rafael and his wife Kayla are expecting their first child in July.
Mrs. Kristen Price will join the Sycamore Valley 1st & 2nd Grade team. Kristen was born and raised in Bakersfield until her family moved to Visalia during her freshman year of high school. Mrs. Price graduated from Mt. Whitney High School and pursued her Bachelors Degree in Liberal Studies from CSU Fresno. While attending college, she obtained her real estate license and worked as a broker's assistant. Even though she enjoyed the many challenges of real estate she always knew her heart belonged in the classroom. Thirteen years ago she was hired as a seventh grade Math and Science teacher at Sundale Elementary School. After a few years, she moved to second grade and eventually Kindergarten. In 2016, she completed her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Fresno Pacific University and married her long time sweetheart, Wade.
Kristen and Wade are proud University of Oregon Duck fans. They love to travel and watch any Duck's team play. She also loves playing auntie to a beautiful set of three year old twins and a nine year old niece. She is excited about the opportunity to become a part of the TACMO family and looks forward to working with all the staff, parents, and students of SVA's 1st and 2nd Grade.
Mrs. Price was a second grade teacher for one of my own children, and a kindergarten teacher to another. She is an amazing teacher and we are so happy she is becoming a member of the TACMO family.

The cost for lunch is $2.00. Applications for free or reduced price lunch will be sent home with your child on the first day of school.
It's no accident that our school community feels like an extended family. Rooted in our mission, we are truly "a collaborative community of educators and families working together to help our students grow." Parents, guardians, grandparents, and others are encouraged to come and share their talents or time with us. We encourage each family to make it a goal to give 30 volunteer hours each year.
Volunteer in a Classroom
Our teachers need you! Parents and guardians, grandparents, and interested community members are encouraged to set up a regular time to volunteer in our classrooms! This extra help goes a long way! Volunteer time spent making copies, stuffing home folders, and sorting/filing leaves more time for teachers to prepare lessons and activities for our students.
This community support translates
all of the amazing things that we do at our schools.
Will you give an hour of your time to help support learning in your child's classroom?
Contact your teacher to set up a time to lend a hand. Thanks in advance for your contribution!
