The OCA Fireworks stand is located behind the Kum N Go located at 132nd and Fort Streets.
When is the Fireworks stand open?
June 28 to July 4 from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm
Is anyone getting paid to work the stand?
We have a paid Fireworks Events Coordinator and a Overnight Security Person that will be paid. (If you know of anyone that wants to work overnight security from June 27- July 3 from 11pm to 8am let Tim Neal know. Must be an OCA parent or student with dependable transportation.
Who is able to work the Stand as a volunteer?
Any OCA student that is an incoming freshman to senior. Also their parents can help, as well as any OCA parent or OCA grandparent.
Does it matter whether a volunteer works a slow day or a fast-paced day?
No, the allocation is the same.
What day and time is set up of the stand?
June 27 from 5-7 pm. We will need at least 15 volunteers to set up the stand.
What day and time is tear down of the stand?
July 4th from 11 pm until we get done – we can use many hands as we can get at this time as well.
What are the times of each shift?

Shift 2: 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Shift 3: 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm
Who from OCA will be at the stand each day?
Tim Neal, Director of Development will be directly overseeing the stand. He will be at the set up, and tear down, and each day from 8 – 10 am and then from 6 – 11 pm.
An OCA administrator will be on site from 10 am – 1 pm
The Fireworks event coordinator will be on site from 1pm to 10 pm each day.
I hear a program or class is responsible for signups for a day. Why is this important?
Students are working to support the program(s) they are involved in. This year the monies are allocated programs for the benefit of all students within that program. That is why it is important to have as many students involved as possible.
Does the setup and tear down count the same as a 5 hour shift?
Yes! Since many hands make light work we are giving full credit for both of these times when manpower is crucial. On both setup and tear down times each student and parent will fill out a form allocating which program their volunteer hours should be credited to.
How is the allocation per shift determined?
OCA is paid by Bellino’s after the stand closes down. Once that happens, the total dollars raised (minus what is paid for the events coordinator and the security person) will be divided by the total number of shifts worked by both students and parents. That will result in the total dollars raised per shift. Next the number of shifts worked by students and parents will be allocated to the specific program(s).
What if, for Example, the Ensemble signs up for June 30 to cover all 15 shifts and they are only able to cover 10?
The other 5 slots would be open on a first come first serve basis to anyone with the opportunity to stipulate any program(s) they so desire.
Is there a dress code to work at the Fireworks stand?
No, but if you have an OCA t-shirt you should wear it. As a volunteer you are representing OCA.
