National Merit Scholarship Program
Harrison is proud to have a semifinalist for this year’s National Merit Scholarship Program. Congratulations to Diego Verdaguer (Motion Picture Arts). Approximately 16,000 “academically talented” high school seniors across the country have been named semifinalists this year. Diego will have an opportunity to compete for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be offered in the spring. Congrats, Diego!
Teacher & Employee of the Year
Congrats to Harrison's 2020-21 Teacher of the Year, Mr. Clifford Parody (Creative Writing) and our School-Related Employee of the Year, Ms. Idalmis Galban (Daytime Custodian). Both of them are well-deserving and we are very proud of them!

Our annual Senior Parent/Student Meeting will take place virtually and has been scheduled for Sept. 21. The video presentation will "go live" at 7 p.m. During this presentation, we will share lots of information related to the Class of 2021 and our awesome school counseling team will share updated information they have received about the college admission process. A link will be posted on the Harrison website on Sept. 21.

State Required Testing
While the state of Florida cancelled all administrations of the Spring 2020 state assessments, they did not waive the graduation requirements related to those tests for students. This will have the largest impact on our current juniors who were in 10th grade last year and must pass the FSA ELA Grade 10 Assessment for graduation. Juniors will take the FSA ELA Grade 10 Retake exam (which requires 3 days of testing) beginning later this month. Students will receive a letter with more information and their specific testing dates soon.
Harrison Student Film to Screen in France
The Harrison Motion Picture Arts Department has student films accepted into many different festivals across the country each year. Recently, the film David Isn’t Here Anymore was accepted into the 2020 American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival in France. The film was written and directed by Josh Ceranic, produced by Riley Stamper and Gwyn Brarman, boom operator Evan O’Rourke, and production assistants Jayden Torres and Alex Torres. The film is a finalist in the competition. Screening dates will be announced soon.
Missing Back-to-School Forms
If your campus student has been home on quarantine and has not returned the Back-to-School forms they received during the first week of school, they should give them to their department teacher when they return.

Some eSchool students and parents also still need to complete the Harrison Student Handbook Acknowledgement and the PCPS Code of Conduct Acknowledgement forms online. Click here to complete and submit these forms and they will automatically be emailed to the Harrison office.
