Also from our busy SVA journalists, comes the first ever KSVA TV News episode! The entire work is student produced from concept to editing. As Ms. Chan said, she just "opens the classroom and the kids do the rest."

Check it out on YouTube, and be sure to subscribe to their channel.

Sutter's Fort Field Trip for Grades 3 & 4

Live like a pioneer and learn California history first hand! Candle making, butter churning, a real live hoe down and so much more! This field trip is not to be missed, but it takes a whole village to make it happen. Parents of 3rd and 4th graders, please plan to attend the first Sutter's Fort Informational Meeting on Monday, October 9,   7-8 PM at the Round Table pizza on Mooney Blvd. (next to Target).

Download a parent informational page that will answer many questions you may have about the trip to Sutter's Fort.

At this meeting the 3/4 team will be discussing trip logistics, making plans for costumes, and parent teams will be formed.

The meeting will begin immediately following the PTO meeting that night.  PTO will be discussing and finalizing plans for the Fall Festival.  If you haven't had a chance to attend a PTO meeting this year, this would be a great time to start.
Expanding Your Horizons

Mrs. Lewis and Ms. de Lemos will take a group of girls to TCOE's  Expanding Your Horizons This optional 11/4 event is for girls in 4th-10th grade in order to inspire them to consider education and careers in STEM fields.  All classes heard about the event in class, and interested girls should be bringing required forms home today. Forms are due back to Mrs. Lewis or Ms. Delemos by Friday, September 29.

SVA is Going to Cyberquest!

This year Ms. Chan will be taking students from grades 4-8 to CyberQuest. This TCOE contest, integrates 21st Century research and critical thinking skills with oral and electronic presentations. This year's CyberQuest will happen on Saturday, December 2 from 8:00AM- 3:30PM. We are looking for high-energy parent volunteers to help with this endeavor. Please contact Ms. Chan if you are interested in volunteering: Thanks!
