Transition at Diocesan House

On October 7th, we shared with clergy and wardens in East Carolina that due to anticipated budget shortfalls, the diocese could no longer fund the position of Canon for Diocesan Life. The Rev'd Canon Sonny Browne's ministry as Canon for Diocesan Life concluded on November 27th. This has been a difficult time for Canon Browne, Diocesan Staff, and those around the diocese, as we will greatly miss his ministry and his presence. Canon Browne recently accepted a call in the Diocese of North Carolina as Rector at All Saints, Roanoke Rapids and he will begin this new endeavor on January 1st. Please keep Sonny in your prayers during this transition.

Diocesan Staff have redistributed the work that Canon Browne managed and will continue to strive to support the ministries of the diocese.

UTO Grants

The United Thank Offering (UTO) is a ministry of The Episcopal Church for the mission of the whole church. Through UTO, individuals are invited to embrace and deepen a personal daily spiritual discipline of gratitude. UTO is entrusted to receive the offerings, and to distribute the 100% of what is collected to support innovative mission and ministry throughout The Episcopal Church and Provinces of the Anglican Communion. If you'd like to learn more about how to apply for a UTO grant in East Carolina, click here.

In early November, The United Thank Offering also announced a call for papers on the theology of gratitude. If this is something you'd like to learn more about, click here.
