Transition at Diocesan House

Effective on 10/18/19, Beth Nagy officially ended her service at Diocesan House where she served as receptionist and administrative assistant for 6 years.

Beth has accepted a position at Wayne Memorial Hospital. While change can often be hard, we certainly support Beth and offer prayers for success in her new endeavor.

We ask that you keep Beth in your prayers, as well.
Celebration of New Ministry at St. James the Fisherman, Shallotte

The people of St. James the Fisherman invite those around the diocese to join them for a celebration of their new ministry with the Rev’d Farrell Graves, whom Bishop Rob Skirving will institute as Rector on  Saturday, November 23rd at 3pm.

Deanery Council Meetings are set for this fall. Deanery Councils consist of vestry designated lay representatives of parishes and clergy.

Pre-convention Deanery Meetings will be set for January, which afford parish delegates to convention the opportunity to receive and to discuss information about the Diocesan Convention and any resolutions that have been submitted.

5th Annual Interfaith Prayer Vigil Against Gun Violence

Wilmington Faiths Against Gun Violence, in conjunction with local faith communities and other organizations, will hold the fifth annual prayer vigil for an end to gun violence  on Wednesday, December 4th at 6:00 pm at Warner Temple AME Zion Church (620 Nixon Street) in downtown Wilmington. Rising Strong: A Retreat for Clergy

This retreat for clergy is based upon the work of Brené Brown and will be facilitated Facilitated by the Rev. Karla Woggon and the Rev. Cynthia Banks, both Certified Daring Way™ Facilitators. It takes place at the Valle Crusis Conference Center from Monday, January 27th through Thursday, January 30th .

137th Diocesan Convention
Save the Date & Budget Information for the
137th Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina

The 137th Annual Convention will be held at the Hotel Ballast in Wilmington NC on  February 6-8, 2020  . For budgeting purposes, please note the following:

  • Registration has increased to $190 per attendee.
  • Hotel Ballast Accommodations: $146 per night (includes parking)
  • Note: If you are not an overnight guest of the Hotel Ballast there is a daily parking fee $12.00 (self parking) and $15.00 (valet parking).

The Convention Committee makes every effort to keep costs low for convention, however, with the increased cost of venues and catering it was necessary to increase fees for 2020. Please note that our last fee increase was in 2014.

Resolutions for Convention

We are now accepting resolutions for the  137th Annual Convention   .

We ask that you please submit your resolution via email to Hannah Jarman in Microsoft Word form.

Please note: the deadline for resolutions to be published in the Convention Reporter is  Monday, December 2nd, 2019.  After Monday, December 2, we will still accept resolutions but it will not be published in the Convention Reporter.

Furthermore, in order for resolutions to be received after   December 31, 2019 , you must have ten delegate signatures that are representing three parishes.
