As 2022 comes to a close, we have much to celebrate as we look ahead to 2023.
A special thanks to our Board of Directors and Executive Committee who have shown an extraordinary level of commitment to WEA throughout the leadership transition of 2022. Members will be hearing more from me in the coming weeks as we develop a read out of this past week's Board meeting and retreat.
A special thanks to our 2022 forum presenting sponsor, Legacy Health. Legacy, along with forum sponsors Kaiser, NW Natural, Comcast, and PGE helped us bring topics and speakers of interest to our members and our community.
And, while we continue to look ahead to exciting programming and convening opportunities in 2023, we also want to take a moment to thank those who came before us. As you may know, WEA lost two of our founding board members and longtime community leaders this year -- Wayne Atteberry and Frank Angelo. In honor of Wayne's long-time service to the WEA, we ask you to consider a contribution in Wayne's honor to the national Alzheimer’s Disease Research center at the Brite Focus Foundation.
Our successes and progress are the result of the dedication and collaboration of our amazing members. This will be our last newsletter of 2022, we'll be back on Friday, Jan. 6 with schedules for forums, committees and member only networking opportunities.

WEA honors Eder, Orchard for long-time service |
This week WEA honored founding Board members Norm Eder and Jack Orchard. Both Norm and Jack were involved in the Sunset Corridor Association, which pre-dated WEA. Norm served as WEA's Board President for many years with Jack serving in various leadership positions over the years. We thank them for their decades of service to WEA and the westside region.
Additionally, the Board elected a new slate of Officers at their annual meeting earlier this week. Congratulations to: Nina Carlson (NW Natural), President; Gina Cole (Legacy Health), Vice President;
Randy Ealy (PGE), Secretary.
A special thanks to our most recent past President, Randy Ealy, who continues his service to WEA as the 2023 Secretary.
Additionally, we want to thank outgoing Tigard Mayor Jason Snider for his work as a Board member. We will miss his thoughtful additions to our deliberations.

Ava Roasteria breaks ground in downtown Tigard
A former brownfield site along Tigard's Main Street will soon become the four-story mixed-use Ava Roasteria Building. It will be the new home for the Washington County-based coffee company, with 22 apartments above.

Washington County's only synagogue is bringing the Jewish Festival of Lights to Beaverton and Hillsboro next week in the early days of Hanukkah. The Chabad Jewish Center of Hillsboro will host a public menorah lighting at 5:45 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Beaverton City Park. The Hillsboro event will be held at the Orenco Station Plaza from 4:15 - 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18.
