Dear Church,
May is full of endings.
Put another way, May is full of beginnings.
As folks graduate, as the school year comes to a close, new things begin.
Makes me think of what Jesus in John chapter 12 - "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit."
Jesus had his death and resurrection on his mind when he said this.
In order for a seed to become a flower, an acorn to become an oak, a caterpillar to become a butterfly things need to change. Loss occurs. Which is HARD. Zooming out, we see how this change and loss leads to growth and transformation. Very good stuff. However, if we say to the caterpillar, as it's becoming mush in the chrysalis, "don't worry! Everything will be fine! This is all part of it!" It can come off rather flippant, what the kids these days call toxic positivity. We can do two things at once - we can know and feel that endings and beginnings lead to growth and transformation while at the same time mourning those same endings and beginnings.
What is ending for you? What is beginning for you?
Peace and grace,
Rev. Nancy Martin

Little Bethlehem Design Team
Have an idea about how to improve the Little Bethlehem Scenery? We want to hear about it!
Whether it is to make the setup easier, the scenes more realistic, better environment for the actors and participants or just overall suggestions, we are open to any thoughts.
The next meeting of the Little Bethlehem Design Team will be Monday June 12th @ 5:30pm. If you can make it in person, please plan on attending. Or if you just want to share thoughts, send your ideas to benjamartin84@gmail.com;
At the next meeting, we will be walking through the path to determine spacing needed for each station and other pitfalls we can identify in the overall scenery setup. Hope to see you there!

Covid-19 Update
We are closely monitoring the ever-changing situation with the Covid-19 Pandemic. Keeping you safe is our number one priority. We have established special protocols for in-person worship and continue to offer worship via Zoom.
We thank you for your flexibility and patience as we navigate these unchartered waters. Every Friday we will send an email about the coming weekend's worship plan.
The CDC currently rates counties in the United States with a Covid-19 Community Level—green for low, yellow for medium, and red for high. The ratings come with recommended prevention steps.
In accordance with those prevention steps, mask wearing at Fairview will be left to the discretion of individuals when Boone County is at level green or yellow. When Boone County is rated at level red, we ask that during worship services and church sponsored indoor large group gatherings masks be worn by all, regardless of vaccination status.
