November 2025 Newsletter

Greetings, friends!

As we enter this season of reflection and gratitude, I am continually inspired by the spirit, dedication, and generosity that define the CEEE community. From the educators who bring economic and personal finance concepts to life for students, to MAEEE educator-multipliers who share high-quality instructional practices across the country, to the donors who champion innovation and invest in our shared mission — you are each part of a community of changemakers. The work you do today creates opportunities that will reach generations to come.

Our community has always been rooted in collaboration, care, and connection, which is why the loss of our colleague and MAEEE alumna Joey Running has touched so many of us so deeply. Joey (Harry D. Hutchinson MAEEE Collegiality Award Winner and Class of 2023) was an accomplished educator who recently started her dream role at Oregon State University’s College of Business. Through her leadership, she helped champion personal finance and career-readiness coursework requirements for Oregon students, opening pathways that will benefit learners for years to come.

Joey built community everywhere she went in classrooms, professional networks, and cohorts, always lifting others up and connecting people to meaningful opportunities. Her impact reached far beyond her school, and her legacy reminds us of the powerful ripple effect one educator can create. Our thoughts remain with her family, friends, colleagues, and the many students whose lives she impacted.

Inspired by educators like Joey, our region came together in October to celebrate Economic Education Month, engaging in professional learning designed to elevate economic understanding in classrooms. Our Econ-O-Ween conference offered spirited, hands-on lessons; Econiful elevated data literacy through unemployment rate analysis; the Stock Market Game sparked curiosity statewide; K–5 Content for Confidence provided elementary teachers with tools to introduce foundational economic concepts. Favorites like The State of the Economy and the SYLP event on leadership in the digital age continued to engage teachers and students across Delaware. We were also honored to receive the Albert Beekhuis Award, recognizing our long-standing commitment to economic education.

As personal finance education strengthens statewide, we proudly attended the HB 203 Governor signing, advancing personal finance education requirements for all high school students in Delaware, an important milestone in statewide financial literacy. Looking ahead, our focus remains clear: to continue building community and deepen the connection to economics and personal finance concepts that shape real-world outcomes. This year, we are introducing the Ronni K. Cohen Personal Finance Educator of the Year Award to recognize excellence in personal finance education, and we have exciting programs ahead, including Family FinLit Nights, The Personal Finance Classroom, Foundations of Financial Literacy, and Revised Keys to Financial Success 5.0, where educators will engage directly with Federal Reserve of Philadelphia experts and CEEE staff in Philadelphia or Dover to support the implementation of HB 203.

Thank you for your dedication, creativity, and heart. Together, we are building a community grounded in knowledge, connections, and opportunity for every learner. We look forward to continuing this work with you in the months ahead.

Wishing you a joyful, restful, and inspiring holiday season.

Onward,
