May 2025 Newsletter

Greetings, friends!

As we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, we extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation to the incredible educators across Delaware—and beyond—who work tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of their students. From elementary classrooms to high school academic spaces, their dedication and impact are felt daily. I also want to shine a spotlight on our CEEE team, whose energy, creativity, and commitment to professional learning continue to inspire all of us. Additionally, a heartfelt congratulations goes out to the current MAEEE cohort of educators, who will be graduating from the University of Delaware at the end of this month. We are proud to celebrate your achievement and can’t wait to see the positive and impactful ripple effect you’ll create in schools and classrooms for years to come.

The past few months have been full of momentum and meaningful learning. April, in particular, was a month filled with excitement as we celebrated Financial Literacy Month. We kicked things off with Teach Children to Save Day, reaching 196 classrooms and over 5,000 students across our state—teaching our youngest learners the value of saving early. Delaware high schoolers also took center stage during the Delaware Personal Finance Challenge, where student teams showcased their financial literacy skills while competing for the state title. Meanwhile, educators in Sussex County joined CEEE staff for Economics in Action, engaging in a hands-on, high-energy workshop that brought economic concepts like negative externalities to life in creative and relatable ways.

There’s always so much to celebrate within our CEEE community, from our passionate staff to our inspiring educators and loyal partners who dedicate their time to learning, teaching, and shaping the next generation of informed and productive citizens. As we recognize these efforts, we also look ahead to a meaningful moment in our year: honoring a Delaware educator with the Bonnie T. Meszaros Economic Educator of the Year Award. This special recognition celebrates a teacher who has made an outstanding impact in their community through economic education. Please consider joining us to celebrate the next recipient at the CEEE Personal Finance and Economic Education Conference.

I sincerely appreciate your continued dedication to advancing education in economics, personal finance, and entrepreneurship. Please know that we're excited to keep building on this work together.

Onward!
