August 2025 Newsletter

Greetings, friends!

As we welcome the 2025–2026 school year, we’re excited to reconnect with the incredible educators, school leaders, university partners, and supporters who help make our work possible. The year ahead promises to be one filled with momentum, collaboration, and meaningful learning.

Though summer flew by, it was impactful. In May, 22 educators from 10 states and two countries graduated from the Master of Arts in Economics and Entrepreneurship for Educators (MAEEE) program. That same month, elementary students demonstrated creativity and critical thinking during the Meaningful Economics (ME*) competitions held in Newark and Georgetown.

June brought the MAEEE Class of 2027 to campus for their summer coursework, kicking off a series of alumni-led MAEEE workshops. In July, the annual CEEE Personal Finance and Economic Education Conference recognized Staci Garber with the Bonnie T. Meszaros Economic Educator of the Year Award. We also welcomed high school students to UD for our SYLP Economics Camp, where they explored concepts like opportunity cost and investing in their futures.

Looking ahead, we’re reflecting on Delaware’s new financial literacy legislation, House Bill 203. We recognize the significance of this step forward and remain committed to supporting schools in its implementation. Furthermore, and thanks to an endowment founded by the Cohen family, the CEEE is also proud to announce a new initiative that will help honor outstanding commitment to financial education in our state with the Ronni K. Cohen Financial Literacy Educator of the Year Award.

Thank you for your continued dedication to advancing economic, personal finance, and entrepreneurship education; we could not do what we do without you! Here’s to another year of partnership and progress.

SPOTLIGHT ON EXCELLENCE

Staci Garber, Bonnie T. Meszaros Economic Educator of the Year

Staci helps students internalize economic reasoning. She is a leader in economic education who guides both students and educators through lesson development and curriculum design to better understand the world through an economic lens.

Chelsey distinguished herself through serving and strengthening the MAEEE cohort experience, contributing to the tradition of collegiality that defines the program.
