O God, we place our trust in you.

As the wind and rain has passed through the mountains

of Western North Carolina, we name before you

those whose lives have been devastated.

We especially remember those who have lost so much,

those with the fewest options, the most vulnerable.

Draw near to those who are the most exposed,

the most frightened, the most overwhelmed.

Hold space for a stillness and a peace even in the midst of the storm.

O God, we place our trust in you.

In the aftermath of ravaging wind and surging flood,

inspire those who give themselves for others.

Let that work be done justly, wisely, safely, generously.

Help us to turn toward one another in our need.

Strengthen our bonds of connection and love for each other.

O God, we place our trust in you,

and we say these words in the strong name of Jesus.

Amen.

In Christ,

+Ken Carter

Our beautiful seashells were finished last month. We have many clear bags to create gift wrap kits. Bring any extra uncrumpled tissue paper and any narrow ribbon you might have. Make some for yourself and lots for the craft sale. Fellowship is #1. You are always welcome to bring one of your current craft projects to work on instead. See you in the Bridge. Finished/donated craft projects or used books are for the November 16th BBQ, Craft & Book Sale.

Announcement from Staff Parish Relations Committee:

We are undergoing a transition in the Church Office as our Church Administrator Nicole Regelsky has announced her departure to pursue another job opportunity. Nicole has been a tremendous asset to Oak Grove as a key member and leader within our staff. We will miss Nicole but wish her all the best in her new endeavors. Her last day with Oak Grove is October 25.

We are pleased to announce that our current Facilities Assistant Tom Monteil has agreed to expand his hours to take the position of Interim Church Administrator in the Church Office. Tom is an educator teaching college level courses, and already serves Oak Grove in many capacities, including being a member of the worship band and a volunteer youth leader. Tom has already started working in the Office to provide a smooth transition. Please join SPRC in welcoming Tom to the Church Office staff in this expanded role.
