Congratulations to Smyrna Businesses Who Celebrated Milestone Anniversaries During National Small Business Month

At the Monday, May 18, 2026, council meeting, a proclamation was presented recognizing National Small Business Month and small businesses celebrating significant anniversaries in City of Smyrna! Of the 3,000+ business in Smyrna, we have 268 legacy businesses who are 20 years or older. This year’s honorees celebrated 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 75, and 80 years in business – representing a variety of industries, including: personal services, health care, your favorite restaurants, home repair, childcare, and business services.

Meet Veronica and Peter, husband-and-wife owners of GOOD Kitchen & Market and longtime Smyrna residents whose story is deeply woven into the heart of the community they serve. Both cancer survivors, they turned their personal journey of healing into a mission-driven restaurant built around nourishment, care, and helping others feel their best through food. What began as a deeply personal commitment to clean, intentional eating has grown into a neighborhood gathering place known for fresh, nutrient-dense dishes made from thoughtfully sourced ingredients. Every plate reflects their belief that food can be both comforting and purposeful – supporting wellness without sacrificing flavor.

More than a restaurant, GOOD Kitchen has become a place of connection and support, where guests, families, and neighbors gather around food that tells a bigger story – one rooted in resilience, hope, and the idea that what we eat can truly help us feel better and live better.

Meet the Varner’s Tavern team, the people behind one of Smyrna’s longtime neighborhood sports bars and local hidden gems. For years, Varner’s has been the kind of place locals know well—a laid-back gathering spot where regulars catch the game, meet up with friends, and settle in for an easy night out.

Known for its welcoming atmosphere and loyal following, Varner’s has built its reputation as a true community hangout with plenty of personality along the way.
