For this month’s newsletter, we sat down with the new Charlotte Works’ President and CEO Danielle Frazier to learn more about her workforce journey, her plans for the future and some of her favorite things.
How did you get into workforce development?
Danielle Frazier (DF): I started working in workforce development after school as a part-time receptionist in a Michigan Works career center. Soon after I became a summer youth counselor placing high school students in summer internships. I’ve held several positions providing direct career development services. I realized early on this was a passion of mine, empowering people to reach their maximum potential, whatever that looks like for them.
What made you want to take on the role of President and CEO?
DF:
After 18 years of working in various workforce development roles, I saw this position as an opportunity to make a greater impact working to help close the skills gap by ensuring all individuals have access to career development opportunities and employment, as well as, assisting our employers with their talent needs.
What will you be focusing on in the first 6 to 12 months in this new role?
DF: The first item of focus is our strategic plan. Our current plan is about 3.5 years old and needs a refresh. So that begins with strategic planning meetings with our Board of Directors, key partners and stakeholders to determine areas of priority.
What is your favorite part of your work with Charlotte Works?
DF: My favorite part of the work at Charlotte Works is the ability to be a part of such a critical piece of the puzzle to a thriving economy; EMPLOYMENT. Not just employment, but a career pathway for all individuals seeking upward mobility opportunities. I also enjoy our collaboration efforts with industry, education, economic development and other community partners in providing viable workforce solutions for employers in our region.
