Just some of what Councilwoman Narcisse

was up to last week

Celebrated

Haitian Flag Day

It was a special night on May 18 at the Brooklyn Children's Museum as hundreds of New Yorkers gathered to celebrate Haitian Flag Day. The event was co-sponsored by Councilwoman Mercedes Narcisse along with Council Members Rita Joseph, Farah Louis and Chi Ossé, along with Borough President Antonio Reynoso.

"I thank my dynamic Haitian-American colleagues, Council Members Farah Louis, Rita Joseph and Chi Ossé for collaborating to put on this splendid display of Haitian culture," said Councilwoman Narcisse "While we celebrate our Haitian heritage and share it with the entire city, I hope we use this moment as a call to action for all New Yorkers to support and help their neighbor, and our beloved nation in crisis."

Spoke at the

Marine Park Civic

Association

Meeting

Councilwoman Mercedes Narcisse attended the monthly meeting of the Marine Park Civic Association at he Carmine Carro Community Center last week. Councilwoman Narcisse addressed the concerns of many attendees attendees who voiced their opposition about proposals to house asylum seekers at Floyd Bennett Field and inside public school gyms.

"I do not believe the school gyms, or Floyd Bennett are suitable for migrants and our community," said Councilwoman Narcisse. "I stand against these plans to house them at these locations. We must develop a sensible humanitarian plan with financial help from the federal government to meet the needs of the migrants and our city."

Honored by

Brooklyn-Based Women's Group

Councilwoman Mercedes Narcisse received the Sojourner Truth Award from the The Brooklyn Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Club Inc. at their 55th Founders Day Celebration. The award is the highest honor given by the organization.

"I thank The Brooklyn Club and all whose shoulders I stand upon to allow this proud immigrant to now have a voice to speak out for the voiceless," said Councilwoman Narcisse. "Let me offer a special acknowledgment to my friend Andrenia Burgis for nominating me and congratulations to all my fellow honorees."
