International Day of Peace Pilgrimage

On Friday, in honor of the International Day of Peace, students in each grade level (K-8) took a pilgrimage to different statues around the church and school. They learned about each statue on their journey and also prayed for peace throughout the world at each of their stops.

Promethean Boards Upgrade

Ms. Tarasovic and Ms. Kordesich's room were the most recent classrooms to upgrade their interactive whiteboards this week. We installed four others over the summer. There are just a few more classrooms to go to receive this updated technology. We also were able to purchase additional student chromebooks so that more classrooms, such as Library, Spanish and Music will have student chromebooks accessible for students.

Penny Wars are Back!

Congratulations to 5th grade, our Monday Penny War winners!

Just a reminder that the grade level with the highest point total each day wins a dress down day (the following day) and a $25 Amazon gift card.

The grade level with the highest points for the week wins a Kona Ice Truck treat!

Our students had a blast today during lunch strategically planning the placement of their coins. Best of luck to all of our classes!

Pickup Safety and Behaviors

This is a reminder to please supervise and monitor your children closely at dismissal. Students should always be with their parents or guardians after being released to them by their teachers.

Students that are being picked up as car riders are not permitted leave their parent/guardian to play in area of the school or church grounds where their adult cannot see them.

Also, students cannot play with sticks or throw acorns or rocks on the school or church grounds.

In addition, students cannot play in the bushes in the school or church grounds. It is not a safe area to play.

Thank you.

Upcoming Fundraisers

Hoagie fundraising forms will be sent home October 1st.

We earn about $3 per hoagie sold!

Orders are due on October 18th.

Sell to your family and friends and send in one check, or cash, or pay through FACTSgiving (a FACTSgiving link will be shared soon).

Delivery: October 29th

Here's a tasty way to help Sacred Heart Elementary earn vital funds! ALL DAY on Wednesday, October 9 we’ll be hosting a fundraiser with the McDonald’s restaurant at 6361 Penn Avenue. Here's how it works: If you use the McDonald's Mobile App to order and pay for your meal that day, McDonald's will donate a portion of the sale to our school. Download the app today so you're ready to order on October 9!

Fundraising Buy-Out Option

From the Parent/Student Handbook: The diocesan policy for funding in the elementary Catholic schools calls for each school to have fundraising activities to generate at least 10% of their total operating budget. To the extent possible, families of Sacred Heart Elementary School are asked to support the school fundraising efforts through participation and volunteering of time. All fundraisers, unless otherwise noted, are for the sole use of Sacred Heart Elementary School.

The annual fundraising goal for Sacred Heart is $150,000. That means that each family (300 families) should contribute approximately $500 worth of fundraising per year in order for us to meet our goal.

If you are unable to or would prefer not to be obligated to participate financially in fundraisers, but would like to help us meet our goal, you can pay the $500 Fundraising Buy Out through FACTSgiving using the link below.

RECYCLE - REUSE - REDUCE

NEXTREX.org

Help us to educate our children to protect the environment. In 2023-24, our school families and friends helped collect 1,000 lbs. of plastic that NEXTREX.com recycled. As a result we earned a beautiful "BUDDY BENCH" located at the front of Sacred Heart School. This year, we continue to collect plastic bags, packaging, etc. To date we already have 93 lbs. Please save your plastic and send it into the school with your children to earn our second "BUDDY BENCH",

WHY WE RECYCLE BATTERIES - U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

Most batteries end up in landfills. Because they contain corrosive material and heavy metals, these toxic materials can enter water sources and cause pollution. Sixty-to-eighty percent of a battery can be recycled.  Help teach the children about recycling and send batteries to school.

MISSION-VISION.org
