There is a limited space to attend our signature fundraising event, featuring a conversation with The Parrish Family Destiny Award Luncheon Speaker, Shaquille O’Neal, for some of the best pointers in this game called life. We are honored to have the four-time NBA Champion, 15-time NBA All-Star, three-time NBA Finals MVP and Entrepreneur sit-down for a conversation with Avery Johnson as our moderator. For the first time in ten years, the Destiny Award Luncheon will not be hosted on St. Philip’s growing campus. AUNT BETTE'S COMMUNITY PANTRY
We need your help to provide pre-packaged boxes of staple foods, along with bags of produce, dairy and frozen meats, for curbside distribution to our clients. Aunt Bette’s Community Pantry has a few volunteer slots available on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:45am-11:15 am and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-12pm. All volunteers must wear masks and gloves, maintain safe social distance, and neighbors are required to wear masks upon arrival. Masks are provided on a need basis. Sign up to volunteer.
VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
For the second year in a row, Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas has committed to sending four seniors to Aunt Bette’s Community Pantry every Wednesday morning as part of their Commitment to Justice program. The senior service experience provides Jesuit students the opportunity to understand more deeply the systems of oppression and injustice that deny others their basic human rights and how they have knowingly and unknowingly contributed to such systems. We are so appreciative of the hard work, positive attitudes, and commitment from these fine young men.
A big thank you to our friends at St. Andrew United Methodist Church who returned for their 3rd community cleanup project on MLK Day. This hard-working team of 19 volunteers spent all morning pruning trees and cleaning up debris in the alleys around St. Philip’s athletic field and playground, as well as around two other lots owned by St. Philip’s. Three large dumpsters were filled to the brim! This continued cleanup project is so important as it contributes to the beautification of the neighborhood. Special thanks also to Gold Auto Parts Recyclers who continues to provide dumpsters for beautification projects.
