The Miller Family Legacy Gymnasium Ribbon Cutting
On Thursday, January 26, 2023, we held a special ribbon cutting for our newly renovated Miller Family Legacy Gymnasium. During the event, we heard from Nakeie Montgomery, one of the country's top lacrosse players, having recently graduated from Duke University and joining the Redwoods of the Premier Lacrosse League. Richie Butler, Roland Parrish, Christopher Haywood Owens, and Bobby Lyle also graced the audience with their kind words and fond memories as we honored the history of athletics at St. Philips and the contributions of the Miller family. This momentous occasion marked the start of development for St. Philip's athletics complexes.
Fun Fact: The Miller Family Legacy Gymnasium is named after David and Carolyn Miller. David, co-founder and managing partner of EnCap, is a two-time graduate and former basketball player of SMU and has a long-standing influence on Dallas athletic programs. He currently serves as President of SMU's Board of Trustees. Carolyn, a former educator, is a devoted community volunteer in many area civic organizations. Together, the Millers have positively impacted the lives of many fellow citizens.

Special Reading at Interabang! RECAP
Dr. Terry Flowers delivered a remarkable reading of his recently published book "Destiny is Mine!" during a special storytime at Interabang Books. It was an incredible event! Parents and children of all ages heard about our creed's history and what inspired Dr. Flowers to transform it into an inspirational picture book. During the event, St. Philip's students that were present recited our creed with their eyes closed. It was a beautiful demonstration that “Destiny is Mine!” is more than just a book, the creed encourages self-confidence and instills hope. As they recited, “If it is up to be, It's up to me,” so confidently, they inspired parents to purchase a book their children can live by for years to come. Get your copy on Amazon today.

Clean Up Day
We are fortunate to have St. Andrew UMC as a partner in our community development work at St. Philip's. On Saturday, January 14, the team returned for their 6th cleanup and worked around the athletic field and several vacant lots where we plan to build affordable housing. St. Andrew UMC was able to fill two dumpsters to the brim! Thank you, Gold Auto Parts, for supporting these efforts by donating dumpsters.

In 2022, FOSP organized an Employee Family night with food and entertainment, a Back-to-School lunch, and the Faculty and Staff Christmas Party. We also hosted our second annual Bingo, BBQ & the Blues event, which raised over $180,000 to help fund programming. We are gearing up for a busy Spring of 2023! We'll be helping recognize faculty and staff core values and their dedicated years of employment, and donating an end of the year gift, in addition to coordinating, hosting and financing the Visiting Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) during its once-a-decade accreditation visit, March 26-29. FOSP members will host a welcome event and support the visit with hotel accommodations, daily transportation, meals, and snacks. We have over 200 members and are growing!
