SPSCC Takes Ghana
Our 8th graders visited Ghana where they explored museums and historical architecture. They were able to immerse themselves in the native traditions and bond with each other to make memories that will last a lifetime. We're grateful for the donors, parents, chaperones and partner organizations that made this trip possible.

"Just Kicking It" Mother-Son Dance
Our boys and their mothers, grandmothers, and aunts enjoyed every bit of the sneaker-themed Mother-Son Dance. Love filled the Snyder Activity Center as the boys and their beautiful dates danced around.
Special thanks to PSA for making this event an incredible experience for all of the attendees. It was truly a night to remember!

"The Sicamores and the Stones"
Our Saints rose to the occasion last week at the annual heritage program where they took us on a journey through history, culture, and tradition, showcasing the diverse talents and creativity of our students.
Originally written by fine arts teacher, Ms. Iv Amenti, "The Sicamores and the Stones" captivated the Snyder Activity Center audience at both Thursday showings with music, dance, and drama and celebrated the beauty of generational differences as well as the strength we gain when we embrace those differences.

Dr. Flowers's Words of Wisdom
"We teach our students that they belong in every story. In essence, we are asking them to question how the materials and subject matter they are presented relates to themselves and their ancestors... We have found that relevance becomes the nugget that nurtures a trail of curiosity to the mind.
Our 8th graders just completed an academic excursion to Ghana, an experience that proved to be the highest manifestation of what the St. Philip’s Creed embodies."

Catch Up and Read
In a powerful partnership with Catch Up & Read, SPSCC continues to nurture the academic growth of its students. Susan Cope, Director of Programs, recently shared evidence-based practices aimed at cultivating student success at all levels, whether tier 1, 2, or 3. Emphasizing the importance of targeted intervention through small group instruction, Susan echoed the insights of Dr. Tim Shanahan, highlighting the benefits of focused attention and interaction in these settings. This commitment to personalized learning reflects St. Philip’s dedication to developing "bright and compassionate leaders of tomorrow."
Adding to the program's success, Catch Up & Read Literacy Coach, Sonya Pegues, made a triumphant return as a guest reader in St. Philip’s chapel. Sonya engaged students with dynamic vocabulary lessons and a compelling discussion on historical resilience. The results were nearly immediate. Following the session, a pop quiz revealed exceptional comprehension among the third graders, with 100% demonstrating mastery of the vocabulary and themes explored. These results are evidence of the effectiveness of our partnership, and we are truly grateful.
