Our Librarian, Ms. Jackson, ignited a campus-wide campaign on Integrity. The campaign was started to help students remember to always be the best person they can be, even when no one is watching. Each hallway was named one of the six pillars of character to help keep everyone on task. The 6th Graders chose Fairness Boulevard as their hallway as a reminder to always play by the rules, take turns, share, and be open-minded. Stay connected with us on social media to see which pillar of character the other grade levels are focusing on for the remainder of the school year.

Alumni Accepted into the Spanish Honor Society at Bishop Dunne Catholic School.
Congratulations to Dorian Ross, St. Philip’s class of 2016 for being accepted into the Spanish Honor Society at Bishop Dunne Catholic School. Ross credits his passion for language and cultures to our 1st-6th Grade Spanish Teacher Senor Perez.
“Due to fact that St. Philips and you allowed me to explore another language, I have made sure that I excel for the last 3 years of high school I have been in advanced Spanish where I have been the only black person in the class and I make sure that none of the Hispanic peers have the opportunity find reasons why I shouldn’t be there.”
Ross says he recently realized that he wants to study medicine in college to become a doctor to help lesson the health disparities in not only the African American community, but also other minorities and knowing Spanish will help him conquer this mission.
“I have used my favorite line of the St. Philip's Creed not just in my academics but all aspects of my life, and the line also gave the courage and motivation to continue my academic excellence. ‘Success is my right - failure my option. I have the voice. The consequences I will accept, for I made the choice. Look at me! Great things lie ahead. Judge me not by what you've been told, But by what's in my head’ ”

Pantry Volunteers in Action!
|
|
SMU Students Volunteer in the Pantry: In the fall we were blessed to have two friends from SMU (both named Sophia!) volunteer on multiple occasions in the Pantry. As they near the end of their freshman year, they came back and brought their friend, Alex, to see the Pantry and volunteer with them. These delightful and hard-working young adults are part of Hilltop Scholars, an academic service group at SMU. Thank you Sophia, Sophia, and Alex for your time and your positive energy. We hope you have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

Target Employees Serve in The Pantry: Employees from the Target store on Beltline in Carrollton had a blast volunteering in the Pantry. As part of the store’s ongoing commitment to serving the community, they decided to serve at Aunt Bette’s Community Pantry. Among the volunteers were the store manager and the warehouse receiver who were pleased to witness first-hand, the impact their weekly donations have on the neighbors in South Dallas. We are so thankful for our partnership with Target.
