Community Stories - Meet Ms. Johnson!

Pauletta Johnson wrote "I have been coming to the pantry since 2016... all I can say is the pantry has helped me a lot with the food since I don’t get food stamps. With the pantry’s help, I am able to pay my bills and rent. Aunt Bette’s pantry is Heaven sent

Your gifts to Aunt Bette's Community Pantry allow us to serve over 900 households, distributing over 800,000 pounds of food annually. We would not be able to assure food security for this many families without your willingness to support this vital cause!

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

Professional Development

A Trip to Colorado

This summer, Tamasha Govan and Tia Stevens had the incredible opportunity to visit the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory (RMBL) in Gothic, Colorado. RMBL is a renowned field station where scientists from around the world conduct groundbreaking research. The lab also offers summer education programs for children, teens, and students at various academic levels, with a strong emphasis on student research and hands-on field biology.

During their visit, they shadowed the science director to learn more about youth programming and explored the possibility of our students participating in these programs in the summer or fall of 2025. We are excited about the potential for our students to engage in such a unique educational experience, one that aligns perfectly with our commitment to experiential learning and scientific exploration.

Thank you, Mrs. Govan and Mrs. Stevens for your dedication to creating an unparalleled educational experience for our students!

ALUMNI UPDATES

Jasmin Moore - Soaring to New Heights

At St. Philip's, we take immense pride in watching our alumni embark on their incredible journeys, and Jasmin Moore’s story is a testament to the transformative power of education and perseverance. Jasmin joined our St. Philip's family in 1993, where she laid the foundation for a future filled with academic and professional achievements.

After graduating from Cedar Hill High School in 2003, she pursued higher education at Hill College then Cedar Valley College, where she earned her associate's degree in 2009. She continued to excel at Dallas Baptist University, obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in Communications in December 2011. Jasmin furthered her studies at Texas Christian University, earning a master’s degree in psychology in December 2015.

Jasmin’s professional career reflects her diverse interests and commitment to service. For over a decade, she was a dedicated Academic Advisor and Student Ambassador for the Dallas County Community College District, alongside roles in nonprofit organizations like CitySquare and as a caregiver. But her journey didn’t stop there. Stepping out of her comfort zone, Jasmin embraced a new adventure in the aviation industry. Since October 2017, she has soared as a flight attendant with American Airlines, based out of Dallas-Fort Worth. Jasmin’s career trajectory is a shining example of how the values and skills nurtured at St. Philip's can lead to extraordinary accomplishments. We celebrate her achievements and look forward to seeing where her journey takes her next.
